Hi as posted before I have just been informed that I have LCWRA. Is it worth claiming New style ESA as my Husband has LCWRA and we took on board the suggestion about the Carers element but as you mentioned we would be no better off if I claimed it as it gets deducted from our UC. My worry is regarding NI contributions as if you claim new style ESA these are paid and I'm not sure I'm eligible for NI credits.

It’s always worth claiming it because it’s not means tested like UC is. You never know what may happen in the future. There are many people that could have claimed it in the past and didn’t but wish they had.

You will receive NI credits regardless of which benefit you’re claiming. For ESA it’s class 1 and UC is class 3.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
