PIP New Claim Timescales

Hello everyone. I’m new here. I applied for PIP on 1st December 2023. Had a text to say my claim was received on 13th December. Had the assessment on 13th February 2024 and the report was received the same day. A letter arrived on 27th February to say they had all the information they needed to make a decision. Have heard nothing since. Is this normal?

    Hi @littletreasure - & welcome to the community. The text is just a standard one letting you know the DWP have received the assessor's report, which you already knew! It can take anyuthing up to 12 weeks before you will receive your decision, so quite normal not to hear anything since. You may later get a text to say a decision has been made when you can ring up to find out what this is (altho it says not to ring, they will then tell you).

    Thanks for replying. It’s 8 weeks tomorrow since the assessment so all I can do is carry on waiting.

    Unfortunately the waiting is part and parcel of the PIP process and is one of the hardest parts of the whole process. The whole thing can just seem so infuriatingly slow. It’s also difficult not to continually think about it….

    Hopefully you will hear something soon and it will be in your favour.

    let us all know how you get on as any update you give can be beneficial to others who might also be waiting.

    Update: Still not heard anything so I phoned PIP. They told me that they still haven’t received the information they requested from my GP. I filled the form in for the GP on 5.2.24. I’m so mad right now.

    That sounds really frustrating @littletreasure. Hopefully your GP sends through the information soon and things start moving along for you. Keep us posted!

    Update: The doctors surgery said that medical reports for PIP are classed as private work. They are done when there is no other NHS work to do. It has been sitting there for 10 weeks now.
