wheelchair and public liability insurance

We've recently been informed that we need insurance for our 11 year old daughter who uses an electric wheelchair. Apparently because the chair was purchased by a charity rather than the NHS (even though she was assessed by an NHS OT who said the NHS wouldn't provide one so would have to approach a charity) we could be sued if she injures anyone. Does anyone have advice about this? We've had the chair 4 months and this is the first we've heard about it.

Hi @sazzle this isn't anything I have come across (though it may be because my little girl has a manual chair)
There is an insurance company called Fish that specialise in disability insurance. They might be able to advise. Before we got our Motability van, we had car insurance with them that covered the wheelchair and also had legal expenses insurance included. -
thanks for advice
