pip and osteo arthritis - does it change anything?

hello all,

i hope everyone is well. i currently receive lr mobility and not due a review until 2026. i have recently been diagnosed with osteo arthritis in my left shoulder and knee, (i am left side bias with cp) and i suspect i have oa in my left hip and other joints too.

my question is : would this information be worth telling the dwp or does it not change anything? do i just wait for my review date before informing them?

if it doesnt change things i wont bother.

    The diagnosis itself will not change anything. Whether it's possible to score more points needed for a higher award will depend on how your conditions affect you.

    If you report changes they will send you another form to fill in and return with all your supporting evidence. Another assessment is most likely because most have them. Once a decision is made your award could either stay the same, be increased/decreased or even stop completely.

    hey poppy :)

    as ever you are incredibly helpful. that is my concern that they could increase my award but equally the could stop it so i will wait and see how things go and if i get it diagnosed in the majority of my joints and take it from there.
