PIP Assessment Report

I did my pip telephone assessment on April 11 at 9am and lasted for about an hour, I got a text at 10:45 am from DWP that same morning saying “We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 8 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you. Is this any unusual? Is it a good or bad thing? I am still awaiting a decision

Unusual? No, it’s normal. Is it good or bad? Neither. Again it’s normal, you had the assessment, the report was written and then returned. Once it’s completed there’s no reason to keep hold of it.

Even though they told you up to 8 weeks,
it’s actually more like up to 12 weeks for a decision. Once it’s made you will be contacted.

Hi @toysoe1 - & welcome to the community. This is just a standard text. Unfortunately it can take amything up to 12 weeks to get your decision letter, but don't read anything into this text being either a good/bad thing, it's just that you'll need to wait until you get a decision.

@poppy123456, thank you I will wait and find out hopefully not too long

@chiarieds, thank you, I was thinking more of the timing between the assessment and when it was submitted, I thought it was rather fast, wasn’t sure if it was a good or bad sign but like poppy said it doesn’t mean anything rather it is what it is so will keep my chin up and wait

    Thanks guys

I requested for a copy of the health assessors report on Tuesday and it arrived today. I don’t agree with most recommendations she made as it contradicts everything I told her, for example she says I said I need prompting on all sections but her recommendations to everything was no I’m fine except for 2 sections preparing food and washing bathing where she agreed with me, I’m very angry with her recommendations as they seem very unfair and not at all describe me. I will wait for final decision, but I’m preparing my mind for appeal as I think it may not be in my favour as they usually go with assessor’s recommendations

A decision has now been made (May 15) but they refuse to tell me over the phone and said I should wait for letter, I’m very anxious because I think it may not have been approved and no decision text so far so I may need to appeal it so annoying

Mostly they go with the report. It’s rare for them to go against it. Once you have the decision letter your first step is to request the MR. You have 1 month from the date of the decision to request this.

You should put the request in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points. Don’t focus too much on the report because that isn’t going to get you a PIP award. It’s fine to mention a couple of obvious errors but then put it to one side and forget about it.

Thanks @poppy123456 as I intend to do just that, I have it written down already just waiting for the letter to arrive hopefully not too long 😌

So I decided to call again today to ask for the decision over the phone as I’m still waiting for letter to arrive so the lady who picked up forwarded my call to another colleague who told me i was refused daily living and mobility and he immediately put me in for a MR and I should call back to challenge the points when I receive the letter and then I immediately received this text message

You've asked us to look at our recent PIP decision again. We will write to you once we've done this. As a guide you should hear from us within 8 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave have changed. Thank you.

Does the 8 weeks start now or when I call back to challenge their decision after I receive the letter? Thanks

My letter just literally arrived lol and yes exactly assessor’s report word for word and the same 2 arrears where she awarded me points too. So I will be calling them back tomorrow to challenge their decision, hopefully will be second time lucky 🤞🏽

We don't usually advise you to request the MR over the phone because how do you know the call handler is typing what you asked them to. For this reason it's always advised to put it in writing, stating where and why you think you should have scored those points. As you've now requested it then the time has already started ticking and could be anything up to 12 weeks, rather than the 8 you were advised.

Ok I will put it in writing instead, thanks so much @poppy123456 😊

I wrote the letter and sent it on Tuesday (May 28), they received it on Tuesday (June 4) and I received this text message below on Thursday (June 6)

Update on your PIP claim. You asked us to look at your decision again. We expect to look at your case by 17/7/2024. You do not need to contact us unless your circumstances change. Thank you

So I’m hoping it’s good news this time

Please be aware that a decision may not be made by the date they advised as a decision can take up to about 12 weeks.

I guess this is just a reminder, I received this message this morning because they’ve sent it weeks before

I just got off the phone to them and it seems they have not made any decisions yet, it’s taking up to 15 weeks

The waiting is the hardest part isn't it? Fingers crossed it comes through soon for you 😊 At least your DLA for son has come through.

    Hello,

I got my MR Notice letter this afternoon, a decision was made August 5 and the points went up from 4 to 6 in daily living, and mobility remains 0 so still no award, I have now lodged my appeal and hoping for the best lol thanks
