Postal vote application gone in, I don't have photo iD so I hope this short notice isn't going to mean they can't process postal vote applications in time. Bet it's deliberate if it does, they know that most people without photo iD don't vote Conservative. Typical Tories, sticking to dirty tricks to the last.

They've been talking about autumn election, letting everyone think they've got time to sort out their iD or even register to vote. Now loads of people won't be able to get it done I reckon, they are so transparent. Remember that these privileged rich kids are not at all interested in democracy, they will use any tactic they can to stop us from ousting them. Remember that when you vote please...

Meg, it’s not too late to register to vote (and it’s quick to sign up)

    https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

In terms of id - even if there isn’t time to sort that out there is the option (and time to change to - but I need to double check) to vote via postal vote or via proxy (someone with id whom you trust voting in person on your behalf)

I’ll post more over the next few days but as the Tory vote looks like it may totally collapse there may be more options then blindly giving the strategic vote to Labour (esp considering starmer and co have done zero to earn the disabled community’s vote…….apart from wanting to flip the bird at the tories)

Glad to see someone looking at the situation sensibly @apple85 and thanks for the helpful info

As evidenced some people just resort to mindless blind hatred and rage and if someone doesn't join in with this they are assumed to be a Tory themselves 😕

Just a reminder to try and keep things respectful as this discussion continues. This is not directed at anyone in particular but I know it's quite a strong subject for a lot of people, so things could get a little fraught if we're not careful.

Please do respect that other's views and opinions may be different to yours and keep things civil and supportive as always! 😊

It's definitely worth getting in touch with your local council's election office if you aren't registered to vote and want to be. They should be able to give you information but as I understand it the deadline to register is closer to the election than today. It's worth trying to do it if you can.

I believe my postal vote is still good for this one because I had a postal vote for the local commissioner vote last month. When that runs out/has to be renewed I'll go back to in person and take my ID. I think bus passes count…

But yes. If you can vote, please do vote. Our voices need to be heard.

And also the strategic vote for each seat isn’t necessary Labour

communication will be vital this election to figure out what the strategic vote actually is and who’s in 3rd place if need be - and also to find out info for each individual candidate running for your specific constituency

    valid forms of voter id:

I used my very out of date passport at the local elections and it was fine. (Just bring the voter card you get in the post that confirms you are registered to vote as an extra if possible) - if your photo id is out of date but the photo looks like you, you should be set

    Bobby,

    I think you misread me

I was referring to individual seats, not government majorities

In terms of smaller parties both snp and Lib Dem’s are in a good position to take seats from the tories (there are a number of constituencies around the country that won’t go red but may go yellow/orange)

Also (though I don’t see either winning many seats) I think greens and reform could pull in some votes which may directly affect seat vote result

If today proved anything this general elections tagline should be ‘expect the unexpected’ (who had sunak calling a summer election on their bingo card, let’s be honest)

I don’t think it’s going to be as straightforward as being pressured to give labour your vote or else a Tory will win the seat

this Post from the bbc live text sums it up nicely

In July please vote to get rid of the Tories. We know what they represent and what they intend to do especially to the sick and disabled. We don’t know for sure what Labour will do but we do know what the Tories will do for sure and its disastrous. Let’s get rid of these awful people.

Sorry Rosie I wasn't trying to have a go at anyone

I was just trying to point out that getting super furious and writing a paragraph of abuse about someone doesn't achieve anything

And that just because I don't write a load of hate about a certain party doesn't mean I'm necessarily a supporter of that party either

Someone yesterday had a go at me for not joining in with the hatred and it upset me as I genuinely am not on any particular side when it comes to politics

Just seen on news general election July this country is ready for change. Let's get the country back on its feet. And to stop demonising the sick and disabled.

I've had 20 years of therapy, I'm not mindless I'm extremely mindful. I'm also not a martyr to blind hatred.

If the recent comments about the disabled community by Stride and Sunak don't make you angry then I don't know what will.

Their plans will see me homeless and destitute, I have every right to be extremely angry about that.

As for your other lightly veiled accusation, you don't know me and I have said nothing to support your assumption. I do not seek to incite hatred against anyone except those responsible for these cruel and democidal policy proposals.

Yes I am angry with this government, I'm allowed to be. It's not a 'pile on' or a 'witchhunt' neither am I inciting a riot.

I hope it's dead in the water now. Should be.

it will be up to the party who wins the general election to decide what to do with the constitution results

    Basically a schrodinger's cat situation

Though I’m not sure benefit cuts are a ‘day 1’ priority for labour like it is for the tories
