confirmation of pip tribunal

Hi to all.today in the post I received my date of my pip tribunal(first time applying) and my journey started July 2023.

I am already anxious as I suppose we all do get.But my question is is there any advice anyone can give me that have already been through this?

M y hearing will take place at the end of July.Thankyou to all

    Heya @Charlie5 that's great news, the end is in sight!

    I've been through PIP tribunals twice now and they were worlds apart from the assessments. My top tips would be to write some notes for important things you want to mention and take your time. They're there to help you so don't be afraid to ask for a minute to think about an answer, or to just have a drink of water if things start feeling a bit much. 😊

    I agree with Albus, definitely write notes or a statement to take with you. Especially if you are not good at speaking under pressure. I took a statement and though they did not let me read it aloud, they did take copies and read it for themselves. I think it helped as it outlined all the issues with the DWP's handling of my case, their inaccuracies, inconsistencies and so on.

    The tribunal people will consider all your evidence and they might not be able to give you an immediate decision. It may be a day or two later.

    A representative from the DWP (probably a lawyer) may be present. They are allowed to ask questions, though in my case she didn't do anything but sit and listen. Don't be put off if they do send someone. They can only appeal an outcome on a legal technicality.

    In my tribunal, the panel were one nice doctor, one very impartial judge, one not so nice individual whose qualifications I am unsure of. That last person tried repeatedly to catch me out and was quite unpleasant to me with her questions - but even though that happened, I still won my case overall.

    Thankyou that ids great advice to do what you advised as i do get tongue tied often,I KNOW WHAT i want to say but it gets muddled,or I have been told I go all around the houses to get my message across.As well as people looking at me while I talk it also makes me nervous,but I will make bullet points etc,and hope I will be ok.
