What fo you make of the government guidance from 2024, this year, that says anyone over pension age when a review is due will have a light touch? Are you saying there wrong?

I'm now wondering what happens with ESA. I've had a letter confirming the award and the amount I'll receive after I'm 66 so I hope that is it for that..

Which review form did you receive? AR1 longer review form or AR2 shorter review form (linked in a previous comment this evening)
ESA is a working age benefit and will end the day before you reach state pension age. It can't be paid from pension age. I would have expected you to have already claimed your state pension by now so that will start once you reach state pension age.

I've just looked at that and it does. The figure quoted is for the final week. It doesn't say it will stop. It would help people like me if it did. The article I've read advises to claim Pension Credit which I already have. Thanks

You didn't answer my question. ESA letters are well known to make no sense at all, this is no exception.

Just personal experience in case of interest to anyone
First State Pension payment 6 Aug 21
First PIP payment 7 Dec 21
10-year review, application put in before reached pension age, which I did in July 21.
For what it's worth no mention of my being of pension age in the award letter.

To be clear, when you say a 10 year review application do you mean the shorter review form.. AR2 instead or the AR1? You can see a copy of the AR2 form here.
It would be helpful to know so I can advise others in the future.

Not a clue about forms. Letter simply reads: 'We will also contact you while you are getting PIP to see if your needs have changed and to look at the amount you get. This will be after 13 October 2031.'

About the form? It was the longer one I think. Does it matter now and are they still using them? I've provided the government's guidance that proves all reviews of pension-age claimants have a light touch. Did you see the post I made and what do you think of what they say are the new rules?

The reason I asked because if it was a light touch then it would have been the AR2 form you would have received. As for light touch reviews we've had no feed back from any members regarding those so I can't give any information.

hi hope I can help. If your award says it’s a 10 yr award. That means your award is due for a review. If it clearly states it’s a 10 yr award that means it’s due to end or up for review.
If it states an ongoing award it means you will just get a light touch review and if there’s no change in your condition you keep your award.

Thanks. It was an ongoing award and I got a light touch review and everything went fine. I got another award with no end date on it.

that’s great. That’s what they said would happen if you are already in receipt of pip when you get to pension age it then becomes indefinite. Glad it’s sorted

I am in the middle of a 10 year award (was indefinite when it was DLA). Does that mean I will get a light touch review next time?
