when will i get paid
I was just awared LCWRA on uc which is great news, going to make my quality of life so much better. I was hoping for some advice on when I might get paid it.
My claim was opened on the 14th March, making my assessmwnt period the 14-13th I believe. I submitted a fit note on the 25th March. However I am on PIP which someone said meant they assessed your waiting period differently?
Any help is appreciated.
Rowan.

Oh, i thought I had commented on this, seems like I didn’t click post comment so it wasn’t posted. Apologies.
You're waiting period is 3 full assessment periods and the extra money is then paid from the 4th month after you provided your first fit note. It's then paid at the end of that 4th month. It's not paid at all during the waiting period. Claiming PIP doesn't change that waiting period.
Did you report your health condition when you first claimed UC on 14th March? If you did then your waiting period will be March to June.. LCWRA starts from assessment period 14th June to 13th July and first payment will be 20th July. No LCWRA element is owed.
If you didn't report your health condition when you first claimed on 14th March then your first payment will be 20th August.

Hi Poppy,
This was very helpful thank you!!
I'm not actually sure whether I reported my health condition when i started the claim, though I imagine so, as I was only eligible to apply for a WCA assessment due to getting pip - i was above the earning threshold to apply otherwise. So if it asks as you fill in the form (I can see "health completed" on my journal) i'll have declared it then…. I will expect my first payment to be 20th august and be pleasently suprised otherwise.
Not sure if you can help me with this - I got a letter saying I am owed some backpay due to there being no waiting period for the work allowance to be paid - it says this: "We've decided you're entitled to UC of £807.31 from 14 March 2024 to 13 June 2024". …. We've already paid you £520.86. We owe £286.45" However, i've not recieved anything from UC so far…every award has been £0 due to having no LCW and earning £850 in employment. Have they calculated this wrong?
I know i have to wait for the LCWRA element, but is my work allowance calculated from march as if I were getting it? If that makes sense…

Clairfication in that some months were actually above £850 so its not straightford to calculate what I would be owed…I'm just mostly confused why they are claiming they've paid me £520!

Health completed means you reported it when you first claimed so your first payment will be this month.
Are you claiming for help with the rent through UC? if so are they paying your landlord directly? what elements are included exactly please? or have you been repaying any debt such as advance payment?
LCWRA is awarded from when you reported your health condition, providing you sent a fit note within 7 days of that. The work allowance for you will apply from the start of your claim so AP 14th March to 13th April. You then have to wait the 3 months relevant period (waiting period) for the LCWRA element to be included.

no no help with rent as I live with family, I am just entitled to the LCWRA element and nothing else

I reported my fit note the 25th March so more 7 days so I assume it will be August

It shouldn’t be difficult to calculate what you’re owed. As you’re not claiming for help with the rent then your work allowance will be £673/month.
If you haven’t received anything from UC since you started your claim and the calculation says you have then you need to put a message onto your journal under the payment section and ask why they are saying you’ve received X amount of money when you haven’t.
You should also be able to both statements so the ones before they recalculated and after they recalculated because they changed it recently to show both.
Is it just the standard allowance you’re entitled to? No child elements or anything else?
About your first payment, apologies, it’s 20th August due to your fit note being provided after those 7 days, you are correct. I need to wake up 😂

just the standard allowance yes.
I’ve popped on my journal asking why they are saying they have paid me money they havnt. I appreciate your help. These are my statements. Doing my own quick math I think this is correct as my earnings were:
March - April - 1578April to May - 880
May to June - 1328
so no idea where they’ve had the £807 number from and the fact they’ve paid me £520!!!0 -
Before the decision was made you would have been entitled to the standard allowance but your earnings would have reduced that to zero, assuming you're a single person.

Yes. So now they've applied the work allowance and this math seems right with the backpay, just no idea where they got the part about me being entitled to £807 and already paid £520. I believe the £280 they are backpaying me is correct and the £807 is some kind of error, but I've popped a mssage on my journal asking for clarification.
I appreciate your help!

You're not just entitled to the LCWRA element. Your UC maximum entitlement will include standard allowance (assuming single person 25+) of £393.45 and LCWRA element £416.19. Total maximum entitlement before deductions will be £809.64/month.
Your work allowance is £673/month so you can receive that much earnings before deductions apply. For every £1 over that amount your UC will reduce by 55p. (55%) For example, if your earnings that you receive are £1,000, £673 of that is ignored. £327 will be used to calculate the deductions.. £327 x 0.55 = £179.85 deduction. Deduct that from your maximum UC entitlement will be what you will receive. The higher amount will of course not apply until your August payment.

Yes thank you. this makes sense but the confusion is over the backpay. UC said this: "We've decided you're entitled to UC of £807.31 from 14 March 2024 to 13 June 2024". …. We've already paid you £520.86. We owe £286.45"
but they have not paid me £520.86, and I can't figure out how they've calculated that.

I have no idea why they are saying you were entitled to that amount and they've already paid you £550, that makes no sense. The elements from before the increase would have been less and same for the work allowance from March to April, that would have been less. I've worked out the figures for the money they owed you and that seems correct.
I can only assume that them telling you they had already paid you £550 is an error because your total for the whole period wasn't even £550 so how can they have paid you something that wasn't even there.
Wait for the explanation and see what they say.

Yes i think its an error too
Thank you so much for your help.
