So happy with the results of the election congratulations to everyone who made it through this horrible government and I hope the future brings us peace and prosperity. I do have one question, does the result of the election mean pip will not be replaced with vouches?

That was a proposition put forward by the Conservative Party. They’re no longer in government so I think that proposal is firmly dead and buried now.

Now let’s just see what Labour have in store for us…

Not necessarily...who knows what labour will do 🤷‍♀️

should the vouchers be introduced into law? Do you know how long before it’s fully implemented?

No and it would be impossible to answer that.

the importance of punctuation eluded me this morning. I’m sorry I meant if this was to get past after the 22nd of July which is when the investigation into the disability benefits that the conservatives started and the labour party decides to go through with it or do something similar would this be implemented next April or maybe the year after?

I believe Labour still plan to look at the results of the PIP Consultation that was initiated under the Tories ( it was not automatically stopped during the Election ). It is still possible to submit your opinion on the proposals. Results of the Consultation to be released on 22 July.

It will be down to Liz Kendall as to whether the new administration acts on any of the proposals or looks elsewhere to reduce welfare spending.

My feeling - for what it's worth - is that PIP will be left for now - the focus will be on reshaping Universal Credit and out of work ill health benefits - ESA / LCWRA / LCW - and getting those who 'can' work into employment.

Factual error above - results of the Consultation to be released after 22 July. You have until 22 July to submit your views.

I think this article gives us a glimmer of hope. Maybe now she is chancellor, she'll keep her word about PIP being left alone.

And if they ever did try to cut my PIP - I would simply send them bills of every extra expense that my disability costs me (due to my inability to do myself) - such as employing a gardener, cook, cleaner, decorator, Wibbles picker-upper, car washer, shopping assistant, odd job person, driver, nurse, toenail cutter, etc etc - in real life - considerably more than PIP pays me…..

i am sure if it implemented there will be a limit on how much you can claim for in a 12 month period

Looking at Liz Kendall's voting history on Welfare and Benefits suggests she may actually be on our side.

I thought the green paper had come to an end when the conservatives lost the election but it seems that it's still ongoing.

Hopefully Labour wont go along with it and will scrap it.

Given that the Paper is open for all to consider - politicians, members of the public, clinical professionals etc - the feedback is unlikely to be ignored but I don't feel there is any great desire to start tinkering immediately with a disability benefit that is totally unrelated to employment.

The Work Capability Assessment along with ESA / LCWRA / LCW are going to be the most likely items Liz Kendall will focus on first - BUT I could be completely wrong.

I've read things about liz kendell that doesn't fill me with hope at all labour said before election they will look at pip after elections which to me is shady
