Insurance for privately installed boot hoists
Hi there
looking to buy a used car and get a hoist installed privately (motability isn’t an option as my wife would be the primary driver and needs it for getting to work and her own social things).
If anyone has done this, did it affect your insurance premiums at all? Just trying to get a sense so we’re not caught out budget-wise!

Just to update if someone who wants to do something similar finds this thread in future, we asked the insurers hypothetically as still saving to get it done.
They said it wouldn’t change the premium with Admiral but the hoist itself wouldn’t be covered on the policy either. I don’t know if it’s any different with other companies. I think there are some specialist ones out there
