Hi all,

I'm very confused and looking for some help. On the 26th July 2024 I was awarded lcwra.

I provided my fit note on 26th April (9th April- 12th May)

Second Fit not says on my journal provided 17th May (13th May- 11th august).

I'm confused why the fit notes I provided are not on the days I provided them. I made sure there was no gaps but on my journal there seems to be?

I have no idea when I will get my first payment I can't make sense of any of it.

Thanks.

It's the date you actually provide the fit note that counts, not the date on the fit note itself. I don't see how the date on the journal could be wrong because when you report something or ask a question the date automatically appears.

What date do you usually receive your money each month?

Hi Poppy, thank you for the reply. I'm almost sure I put it on my journal the day I got my fit note and not days later( my memory is terrible tho).

I get paid 10th of every month.

If they accept that gap between 13th and 17th May your waiting period will be.. May/June, June/July, July/August.. LCWRA starts from 4th August to 3rd Sept and first payment will be 10th September. No LCWRA element is owed.

If they don't accept that gap then your first payment will be 10th October.

Hi @EmmaG1406 . Can I kindly ask what the actual dates on the fit note you submitted on the 26th April were? I refer to the actual dates shown on the fit note you received from your GP? Is it my understanding that the first was dated 9th April - 12th May ? Can I ask what dates are shown on the following fit note you submitted on the 17th May? Is it dated the 13th May - 11th August? I ask because of my own confusion when submitting my own fit notes. My own fit note from GP was dated to the 14th July. I received a message from UC stating that I had until August to submit a further Fit note. My GP subsequently provided a further Fit note dated from the 15th July. Being super paranoid about there being any gaps in dates, I phoned UC to question if this was correct. I was advised that the fit note dated from the 15th July should have been dated from the 14th July, otherwise it would appear that I was fit for work one day. I was advised to contact my GP to explain this and request the date be changed to show from the 14th. My GP was happy to do so. Although there is an extended period of time given to submit fit notes, I was advised that the dates on them are relevant. If anything, it may be that there may be a discrepancy of one day 12-13 May which I'm sure can be rectified by your GP or a phone call to UC. My apologies if I've totally got the wrong end of things here and for my use of bold. It's purely been used for me to highlight dates for me to keep track of my own messaging.πŸ‘

If a fit note ends on one day, it's correct that your next one should start from the following day, if it started on the date the previous one ended then there would have been 2 fit notes for the same date. A fit note dated this way would not have been treated as a gap.

The helpline should always be used with caution because of their limited knowledge with UC, other than the read from a screen in front of them.

In EmmaG1406's case the fit notes were provided after that date on the actual fit note. What counts is the date you provided it and they don't usually allow any time between fit notes, even if it's backdated.

Hi @poppy123456 , this is where I get really confused 🀯 . I received a message through my UC journal stating that my fit note would expire on the 14th July but that I had until the 4th August to report another. I get really confused with stuff like this and had my head started questioning if the 14th July was covered if they stated it expired on the 14th 🀯🀯. That's why I phoned them and was told I needed to request 'an extension ' on my fit note and that it needed to be dated from the 14th July. I get so concerned that I'm going to mess up with all of this!! I find the whole thing like a Krypton Factor Challenge !! Dealing with DWP and PIP can feel like entering one of those rooms on the Crystal Maze!! I apologise if I am just not grasping things, I seriously struggle with dates and sometimes with the wording of things.

@onedayatatime I am exactly the same as you, it's all so confusing. I spoke to a man from uc this morning and he said I will get my first payment 10th September. He also said I will be back paid for the 3 months. From my understanding this isn't correct. I've tried to do some research and I'm sure it says you have to wait 14 weeks? I'm sure poppy said there will not be any back pay.

I'm sorry I can't help you and I feel Poppy has alot more understanding than I do.

Thank you for your reply Poppy 😁

Heya @EmmaG1406 and a belated welcome to the community. 😊

I can see the community is already helping you out, but I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hi. I agree UC can be so confusing!

This is the reason why you should ring the "helpline" for such advice because they are call centre staff with very limited knowledge in UC other than to sit there reading from a screen.

Regardless of when your first payment is, whether it's Sept or Oct you are not owed any LCWRA element. For the avoidance of doubt, it's not 14 weeks, it's 3 full assessment periods starting from when you provided your first fit note, assuming there's no gaps in the fit notes. Gaps can affect when the extra money is paid from.
