Hi

New to this so please be kind.

I applied for ADP last year and was awarded standard which I was fine with, I got it for back problems and anxiety and panic attacks, they didn’t ask for any of my medical information just a few questions on the phone and that was it.

My anxiety got worse and I wanted to update them and ask for my award to be looked at based on the change and they decided I shouldn’t have got anything and stopped my payments and if I wanted to take it further then I would have to appeal to the tribunal which I have.

The medical information I have gathered is confirming my back pain and anxiety,

Social security never asked for this information to start off which has anyone ever been in the same position as me? If so have social security admitted they didn’t have the information and admitted they got it wrong? I know they don’t have my medical history as they have just requested it last week.

    Hi @jess24, welcome to the community. I'm afraid I don't have much experience with this but I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to the community. I'm sorry you've had to go through the stress of going to tribunal.

    Hopefully someone can give me some guidance as they have asked if I want paper decision or phone or face to face. They have said paper base is quicker but am overthinking and worried

    I wouldn't advise to either appear in person or have a telephone hearing. Paper based hearings maybe quicker but have a much less chance of success. Regardless of what benefit a Tribunal is for, there's always less chance of success with paper based.

    I wouldn’t manage face to face and telephone also I can get anxiety, Surely I wouldn’t be penalised for accepting a paper base? Would that not be unfair?

    No problem. They will always prefer you to appear in person or have a telephone hearing because they like to hear from you in your own words exactly how your conditions affect you.

    Sometimes if you request a paper based hearing they may even ask you to either appear in person or have a telephone hearing.

    If you request a telephone hearing do you have someone that can be with you on the day? You can put the phone onto loud speaker.
