The EHRC, which independently oversees the Equality Act 2010, is investigating whether the DWP and the Secretary of State have violated equality law. The investigation period has recently ended, and they are likely assessing their findings. If they determine that the DWP broke the law, they can take action. The results will be made public, regardless of which political party is in power, the DWP will be held accountable if found to be in breach.
