Shock wave lithotripsy

I had a CT scan of my lungs in June,the scan also scanned my kidneys which shown a stone in each kidney.

I was referred to Urology at hospital and had a consultation this morning where I was told that I would need to have shock wave treatment to blow the stones up😯

Has anyone had this treatment? I believe it can be quite painful?

    Hi @noman I have heard of this before but ive never had it done. Hopefully it does sound as bad as it does.

    Ooooh, a family member had kidney stones and had the "lasers zap them" as he put it. He said it's not the most comfortable thing, but it's definitely better than having the kidney stones.

    Hi @noman Did the hospital tell you what would be involved with this treatment or how long it would be before it can be done? I have not had it done. I have heard that kidney stones can be very painful. Good luck.

    Ask a doctor for pain relief. As I was told, it hurts, but not like renal colic and definitely better than surgery.
