The Beatles let it Be ..... My dad is 80 had whole life of Mental health Bi polar anxiety crushing depression as an 80 year old man he tells me it's a simple as day by day who knows what tomorrow brings me worrying endlessly didn't change any situation it made it worse and it really did he even jumped in river Thames but he always had a dry sense of humour he said even the rats was trying get me out of the water ! And he's still here also says worrying won't add a day to my life And my favourite saying I've had many worries in my life Most of them Never happened going to listen to music get lost in the sounds

Hi @Catherine21 It is so true. Worrying changes nothing. Take care.

That's a very wise father there! I like "Worrying wont add a day to your life" I think I'll be using that one. 😊

Your favorite saying is very true too. It takes a lot of practice, but once you can get into that mindset, life tends to be a lot nicer. 😊

Very wise and very true, unfortunately anxiety doesn't like to be shoved forcibly into the background so often (me at least) goes on a loop of "calm logic and relaxing, then worrying all i over again, even when we know deep down it achieves nothing.

It's the body and minds protection mode running riot.

The "inner saboteur" that everyone has, but for some of us it's that little bit louder and more insistent to be heard. I also call them my "head weasels"

And you're right @Nightcity it doesn't like being forced down and everyone's anxiety is going to be wildly different, but with practice, it can often get those voices to be a bit more quiet, or get to the point where you can argue back with them and tell them they're being very silly. 😆

I found a great tip was whenever I was super anxious about a certain thought, to sing it out loud is a silly voice. Just so you actually realise how silly that thought was. I used to be singing a lot!
