UC payment minus ESA amount help please
Hi all
I’ve noticed on my UC statement the decision for ESA is £598.87 but I’m not actually getting that amount I’m getting £198.82 fortnightly, I believe it’s due to some deductions but it’s around £50 a week difference. Would anyone know if this could be right or if they’ve taken off too much ESA?
I hope that made sense as I’m not great at putting things into words.
As always thank you in advance

The deduction is a standard deduction and correct for the full weekly rate of ESA.
I'm not sure if they take into account any ESA deductions for individual circumstances.
Speaking generally, ESA is a weekly benefit and UC is a monthly benefit.
ESA £138.20 x 52 divided by 12 = £598.86/month deducted.

thank you for your reply, I’m only getting £99.41 a week though? £198.82 a fortnight. I’m incredibly confused by all of this 🫤

I see from your other thread you've been told your ESA will go up to the rate mentioned on the 23rd October.
I don't know whether UC will take into account you are currently getting less ESA, or whether the standard deduction is applied to everyone.
You could put a Journal message (under payments) querying the UC deduction as you are currently not actually getting that amount of ESA.

yes that’s correct. I just wasn’t sure if UC were deducting too much or if it was correct and they do it as if I was getting the full weekly ESA rate, thank you for your help and advice.

I don't know what the deductions are for, for the ESA but the deduction for UC will be calculated as follows…
£138.20 x 52 divided by 12 = £598.86/month. This is because there's 4.3 weeks in a month, not 4 weeks. ESA is a weekly benefit and UC is monthly.
