Hi @Catherine21. Sorry I don't have any experience of foxes at all. I remember when I visited Hastings a couple of years ago I saw a fox wandering around and was really excited. I can imagine they're a pain when you actually have to deal with them regularly though!
Hopefully someone else has some advice.

i very much doubt they would have kits this late in the year they tend to mate in the winter and have kits mid march time when food is more plentiful normally only one litter a year

foxs in the wild eat a number of things that help to keep there teeth shortish and sharp the problem with urban foxs is that they eat mainly food waste from peoples bins etc so they tend to chew through wires to wear and sharpen there teeth we invade there natural space ie build more houses so more of them will be invading ours in the future they dont like strong garlic chilli powder or peppermint scents try putting it around the garden

If I didn't have dogs I would leave them can I ask the earth is really raised is that thier way out ? Asked neighbour to look his side to see if there is a hole which he hasn't if I put something on the mound will that trap them I don't want to do that obviously she has cubs as I watched 4 times waiting in neighbours garden to come back in

Oh OK so if I put something on the mound like wood will it trap them I don't want to do that my dogs go garden 8pm then sometimes early hours I'm worried for them as they will chase the fox

its illegal to block up fox holes with the animals inside but what you can do is scrunch up some newspaper to semi block the hole you will soon see if its occupied if its not been moved within 3 days its safe to say its empty and you can refill the hole then cover the earth with some slabs etc foxs usually have 2 or 3 dens on the go at all times so your not making them homeless a solar light that comes on with movement will also make them feel unsafe

Foxes can carry various dangerous diseases. It is necessary to get rid of them.

That's what I worry about for My dogs ! I I put garlic over it and chill the fox came back 4 times that night but touch wood not as much since

Why would you want to get rid of them? The risk of catching something from a fox is very low!
Foxes and diseases
Foxes can carry some diseases which can pass to people, such as mange or toxoplasmosis (an infection carried through faeces). Pet dogs or cats are the most likely sources of these infections rather than foxes. The risk of catching diseases from foxes is very low unless you're in direct contact with them or their faeces.

The RSPCA helps animals in England and Wales.

the rspca will not entertain the removal of healthy foxs in a garden that is not there purpose
1 -
Correct, the RSPCA will not remove healthy foxes. The only thing you can do is try to deter them. They only make dens if they have cubs or the weather is particularly bad. So they may well move along given time and a bit of gentle coaxing.

If I didn't have dogs I'd leave them they are beautiful but when my daughters dog rolled in the wee how many baths later its a no go and pooing in garden I put garlic and chilli she came back night after 4 times I was watching but since then haven't heard I was so paranoid I thought someone was coming in my garden and cutting lights deliberately I was shocked it was foxes

AS a dog owner for many years, I know just how much dogs love that special fox based aftershave. Blergh!
Putting them off coming back is def the best solution. So replacing the strong smells every couple of days, even using your own dogs can help as deterrents. So persuading them to do their business near the sets can help a lot.

I wonder why they choose my garden 22 years I've been here God the smell is horrific
