The trouble is that due to Labour lack of details regarding benefits and the system what they plan to do, is causing mis information by the media which fuels anxiety and worry among us . If they could clarify Pip , at least, this has been dragging on too long. These our our lives they dealing with. It's ok for them being weathly and not having to worry about money.

I want to apologies if i scared and caused anyone any stress, it wasn’t my intention to do so. The information i was given was by an ex DWP employee. I am not sure if i didn’t understand what she was saying or she was explaining in a way that just confused me. By the time i had finished listening to her i was so stressed and upset. Sorry.

Do I understand correctly that many of those who wrote in this thread were told only the truth by their bosses at work, teachers, parents...?

I'm worried about my youngest sister as she's my middle niece's main carer and she has to be able to go and collect my niece from her special school, which is in a different part of our hometown from where she lives. She would probably have to go there by bus or taxi to pick up my niece and then she'll do the same coming home.

My sister has had to pick my niece up from her special school a few times as she's either become unwell during school or she's had an accident like bumping heads with another child and my sister has had to go and pick my niece up from school to have her checked over by the doctor or in A&E.

My sister also said that she's thinking about getting herself and my niece checked for ADHD I think she said.

Our eldest cousin, who is in his mid 40s now was only diagnosed with either ADHD or something along those lines when he was in his 30s.

    He's a dad himself. He's also a granddad too.

If your sister is claiming carers element of Universal Credit or carers allowance the she will have to work commitments for UC.

I take this to mean did we imagine we were being told the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Do we imagine we are told it now by any authority?

Are you saying that the people you depended on, and whom you could not seriously influence, ALWAYS told you the truth?

yes but the reason someone is on a disability benefit is because they can't work or they would be on JSA

Not really. Disability benefits refer to PIP, ADP (for those in Scotland) or DLA. People do work and claim these benefits so not everyone is unable to work.

For benefits such as ESA and UC that includes either LCW or LCWRA there are some people that can and do work but they have a limited capability for work due to their disability. I do agree that some people are unable to work at all, just not everyone.

For the avoidance of doubt this doesn't mean that I think disabled people should be forced into working because I don't.

It used to be that there was a difference between tory and Labour, sadly now it seems they both despise us.

Thankfully there are still some good and decent people in positions of authority that care about the welfare of the disabled. Also groups like scope that make a stand for human rights of those most in need.

    Together we have a voice

yes i see that thanks, am just wondering if they are rethinking it as i've heard nothing about making the ill go out to work, it just seems all about the winter fuel payment. If people can't work but forced to it will increase load on the NHS that they probably haven't realised, especially folks with depression & other mental health issues.

From actually reading the article a lot of the focus seems to be on programs and schemes to help get people back into work.

"People need to look for work, but they also need support.

"That's why I've gone out to look at schemes where businesses are supporting people back into work from long-term sickness.

"Quite often, I think what lies behind this is a fear for someone who's been on long term sickness that - 'can they get back into the workplace? Are they going to be able to cope? Is it all going to go hopelessly wrong?'"

There are a lot of people who feel like they can't get a job because there are still a lot of difficulty getting reasonable adjustments etc. I'm remaining optimistic that the goal is to help people find work and adjustments that supports them, rather than forcing people into work. I can't see that going well in the courts or tribunals unless they're also planning to scrap the Equality Act.
