It's Do Something Nice Day! 😊
Today we're celebrating doing nice things for others. Something to make them smile and feel loved ❤️ It's easy to get caught up in all the stresses of life, but for today let's try and think of some positive things we could do and put aside the worries even if just for a little while.
Nice things others have done for you
What has someone done for you that made you feel loved?
I was having a tough day recently and my friend surprised me with pizza (my absolute favourite) and suggested a new trashy tv show to watch together to take my mind off thing. It worked a treat!
Nice things you have done for others
It can be something as simple as a quick phone call or text, smiling at a stranger in the street, reaching out to someone you haven't spoken to in a while. Posting on the community counts too! I love seeing your supportive comments to each other, pictures of your pets, and your wonderful gardens and I'm sure a lot of other members do too.
My nice thing today is I'm going to see my parents as it's my stepdad's birthday and I don't get to visit very often.
Let us know what you have done or will try to do today to make someone smile 😊

@Rachel-scope
I strive to be kind and empathetic every single day.
Today I have an elderly couple over for roast Sunday lunch and to watch Strictly come dancing I recorded last night.
Later we will take a short stroll down the road in the pouring rain to meet friends in a locals social club.

That's lovely @luvpink, is it something you do regularly for them?
Aww @Sandy_123 that's wonderful! Such useful things too. I've been obsessed with Vinted and charity shops recently buying clothes ready for my daughter being born in December. Need to make sure I buy essentials like you put in your hamper too 😊

Aww that's so sweet, thank you. I've just written a list of what you put in your hamper so I know what to get! Does your granddaughter have a name yet? I bet you're so excited.

I set to work on my weekly challenge! What I was going to do was make 100 Affirmation sticks to give out at church this week. Affirmation sticks are easy to make, I got 100 coloured Lolly sticks from The Works and some some Pritt Stick (glue sticks). Then I needed some sentences that would Affirm and make people feel good about themselves, for instance:-
You make the day better for being you
Your sunny personality shines out and warms us all
All things are possible when you share your positivity and smile
I printed out the affirmation sentences, I had 50 on my computer so I printed them out twice. Then I cut them out and stuck them on the lolly sticks.
This is an easy thing to make and the great thing about it is. It brings people some happiness, sometimes they react by saying how the simple sentences have touched them🚔️

That's such a wonderful idea @Lindsey54, and so simple too! They'll definitely bring a smile to people's faces 😊 My best friend made me something similar but it was filled with memories and it's a great pick me up when I'm feeling down. Tell us more about your weekly challenges!
Ooh tasty @durhamjaide2001. You can't beat a cuppa and a slice of cake. It's always important to do something nice for yourself ❤️
So @san67…do you deliver these wonderful breakfasts?? They're making me so hungry. What an amazing thing to do for your neighbours. Is it something you do regularly for them?

at the moment no. Been caring for my brother the past 5 months due to him having an accident. Things are getting better though. Hopefully I can start having me time. Seeing a therapist and I’ve done a lot better than I have when I first saw him.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother. That's great that you're making progress 😊 It can be a tough and long journey but it's worth it. You'll have to think about some things you'd like to do for yourself when you're ready.

I think both of the things that come to mind are charity related.
My local transition towns group runs a seed swap, and during lockdown we posted out seeds to schools & individuals as we could't run events. Although we were isolating it really helped us reach new & more people than we would during a small few hour event.
The charity also helped out some local refugees create a small community garden. Sometimes they are only there for a few months, but there was a celebration with the key volunteers, police etc and all involved. I ended up dancing with a dozen guys in an Afghan mens line dancing style (a bit like greek dancing where you lock arms & dance in a circle). I've got no rhythm but it was just a great day.
Without those circumstances those things wouldn't have happened.
Sometimes on of our PA's brings food round if she's cooked too much (i think she tends to over portion anyway), and we'll give her fresh garden veg or jams etc.
The barter/exchange currency system is very much alive.0
