Personal wheelchair budget
Hi everyone. Today I received my personal wheelchair budget quote and I am really disappointed. They have quoted me 24% of the cost of the chair they are recommending. Is this normal? I have no chance of affording the chair I was hoping for now.

There must be a way how much you spending about? Go Facebook marketplace cheap tho 24% off that not right crazy must be 50% or 70% innit are you claiming PIP? Right then ask them maybe they provide I'm not sure they did ask me about mobility 2 years ago I'm not sure now government keep changing mind.. hope you find 1 though..

Hi @Katie213. I'm not overly familiar with wheelchair budgets but that does seem like a low amount for them to contribute. I found some information here. They calculate your budget based on what it would cost the NHS to meet your needs. If you have additional health and social care needs, it could be pooled with funding from other services. It does say that you could apply for funding through a charity and add your own money to afford the wheelchair.
As Qasimo has mentioned, would a second-hand wheelchair be an option? Have you questioned why the budget is so low?
