Been told no longer need to provide fit notes

Hello everyone can anyone tell me I claim universal credit. And have been awarded limited capacity to work but I still had to get fit notes for months.but now I have been told I no longer need to send fit notes. But am still on limited capacity to work so really don't understand what it all means some advice I be grateful for thank you all

    Once the decision was made on your work capability assessment you wouldn't need to continue with the fit notes. It would tell you on the decision letter that no further fit notes were needed.

    If you were found to have Limited Capability for Work (LCW) there's no extra money each month.

    You only receive extra money if the decision was Limited Capability For work Related Activity. (LCWRA)

    If you disagree with the decision and it was made less than 13 months ago and you think you should have been found to have LCWRA then you can challenge it by requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration.

    Hello yes I was awarded limited capacity to work 2 yesrs ago but still had to put fit notes in only now thay say I am still in that group but no longer need fit notes so why did I have to get them for 2 years. I do believe I am on the wrong benefit should be in LCTWAWR but it's so confusing 😕 thank you every one for your kind welcome here

    I have no idea why you were told to continue to provide fit notes, that's not correct. It tells you this on all decision letters for the work capability assessment.

    If you think you qualify for LCWRA then you can report a change of health condition by reporting a change of circumstances. You will need to provide fit notes for this. They will then refer you for another work capability assessment and you'll be sent another UC50 form to fill in and return.

    Hi I have ask for a Reconsideration on this ii now got phone health assessment on November 2024 and since I have been on universal credit since 2021 and had to get fit notes though out just universal credit told me thay no longer require fit notes. so it has changed. But as for you saying I should not have to get them in first place thay told me I did and I was on limited capacity to work like i am now. I do think I am in the wrong group. Thanks for the reply.

    If the decision on the last work capability assessment was more than 13 months ago, you are out of time to challenge that decision.

    Once the decision is made on the current work capability assessment if you're not happy then you can challenge that.

    Hello yes it's so unfair I been messed around for over a year now thay cancelled my health assessment in January 2024 heard nothing since when I complained got told thay phone me and the phone call was not a health assessment. as said I am in wrong category. had to get fit notes for 2 years and I was awarded limited capacity to work. Now I am told thay change the rules on fit notes.i find this so stressful 😤 just hope when I get phone call from health assessment. it will get better

    I'm so sorry you've been messed about so much @sweetbird3. It causes so much extra stress and it's so unfair. I'm glad you have a phone assessment in November. I hope it all goes well. Will you let us know how you get on?

    Hi every one I had a health assessment on phone about my mental health issues and other problems I have thay say thay got more then enough what do that mean. Thay be in touch soon. Sweetflower3#

    It means they have enough of information to write the report and return it to DWP. From there a decision maker will look at that, as well as the form you returned and any additional evidence you sent and make a decision.

    Once a decision is made if you have access to a journal the decision letter will be uploaded onto there.

    Hello everyone just to let you know i was awarded limited capacity to work and work related. Also UC say thay owe me over £11,000 for not paying me what thay should have months ago can you tell me will this affect my benefits. The lump sum thay owe me bit worried.

    As it is over £5,000, it will be disregarded from your capital amount for the duration of your UC claim 🙂

    So it will not affect your UC.

    If you receive Council Tax Reduction, you will need to inform them once you receive the money.

    Morning to all here can anyone tell me when I.will receive my back pay from UC as its quite a lot thay ask me if I wanted it in a lump sum or monthly payments I said lump.sum will I get it as a cheque or in my bank account just wondering.

    You will get it paid directly into your bank account.

    Money owed can often take a few weeks to be calculated and paid.

    From what you've written they seem quite far along in that process, so hopefully it won't be too long for you.

    Yes, as I previously advised you need to let Council Tax know.
