Shoes that fit over AFOs

Hello, I am new to AFO's, I have developed drop foot after years of spinal problems and have been prescribed a rigid AFO.
I never would have imagined how hard it is to find shoes that fit over it. I have been in tears in my quest to find shoes especially when a teenage shop assistance expressed sympathy about my situation. I gave up looking for a while until I found this websitie and have found all the comments and practical advise so helpful and motivating. I will begin my quest to find suitable shoes............next weekend maybe!

Hi Sam, many thanks for asking, no I haven't lol. I had a spell of enthusiasm and went to loads of shops dragging my AFO round with me to try lol, then I kind of lost heart for a while and gave up which is bad of me. I went to an orthotic appt last week and my orthotic lady looked very disappointed in me which has renewed my determination to start looking again. She said DB in Rushden might be worth a try so I think I will have a look this weekend, fiingers crossed. Hope you are well and thanks for replying? x

This post by @Noah about what it's like to wear AFO's might be helpful to you.

Hey Alex and Sam, thanks so much for the warm welcome, it inspired me to resume my search when I joined and I have finally found some shoes to fit at my local disability shop who stock Cosyfeet. I kind of put the insole out of the shoe that fits the AFO into the other shoe and it kind of all fits, I am so happy, just got to get used to walking in it now lol. Thanks everyone, much appreciated xxx
