edited October 2024 in Universal Credit (UC)

I just got my LCWRA decision today 24/10/2024. I have been supplying fit notes since 18/06/2024 with no gaps and my assessment date was 09/09/2024. I want to find out if payments will be backdated and when actual payments will start. Thanks

What date do you usually receive your money each month?

I usually get paid on the 6th of every month

Thank you. The waiting period is 3 full assessment periods starting from when you provided your first fit note. The extra money is then paid from the 4th month, with first payment being the end of that month. LCWRA element is not paid at all during that period. Your waiting period will be as follows..

June/July, July/Aug, Aug/Sept.. LCWRA starts from assessment period Sept/Oct and first payment will be 6th November. No LCWRA element is owed.

If you or a partner were receiving earnings since you provided your first fit note and you didn't have the work allowance, you'll be owed some money from that.

Thank you. What I understand from your comment is that I will not be getting any back payments

You're welcome. Yes, that's correct. It's not paid at all during the waiting period.

Also just to add more information, if your UC currently includes Transitional Protection then the addition of the LCWRA element will erode that. Whether you're any better off will depend on how much your Transitional Protection is.

Thank you so very much. My UC does not include Transitional Protection

You're welcome. Then your maximum UC entitlement will increase by £416.19/month from next month.

I also get payments from PIP, however it expires on December 2025. Wanted to know if I can reapply or how does it work when it’s coming to an end. Thanks

Hi there @amzjobe and welcome to the community.

With regard to your PIP award, they'll send you a letter about 8 months before your award is due to end, to see if you'd like to ask for a reassessment. That will get the ball rolling for continuing your PIP.

If that was a standard DWP award, they will send you a PIP review form around 9 months before the end date. You can't reapply early. Your PIP award will continue until a new decision is made. It could be extended past that date due to backlogs, but you must return the form by the date written on it.

If it was a tribunal award then you may have to manually reapply, but wait until nearer the time to see if you get the review form in the post first.
