Thanks @egister I have argued with careco a lot about the slipping into the road issue you describe. I asked them to show me something that didn't do that. They just said I had exacting standards and it was my fault as I was leaning slightly to the side in the chair! Your answer about the mid wheel drive is sensible and makes sense to me so thank you so much. Waterproofing, yes, why on earth not.

@egister just a thought, is it the waterproofing of the battery thats more of an issue than the pcb in the controls?

What exactly model of scooter do you have, what is in the documents (pdf)? If water got into the inside of the battery, then most likely it would fail and it would be good if it did not catch fire (Li).
