PIP review & appeals

Hi all I'm up for my pip review soon. Since my original application that I had to take to tribunal (& won) I'm wondering about the review outcome. Basically I've had symptoms of ME/CFS for 4 years I have cancer & a brain tumour to boot but my CFS has been the one that's caused me a lot of issues with mobility. I'm currently on standard daily living & mobility but with the help of a benefit charity helping me with my pip form I'm hoping to get enhanced mobility as I really can't get out & about anymore. I finally had my appointment with a CFS specialist doctor (been waiting 2 years) he diagnosed me with CFS. What I'm wondering is if I'm awarded standard mobility component & I decide to appeal the award will I still get the standard payments while my appeal is going through? Thank you

Any award you have if you request the MR will continue while you wait for the decision. Same applies to Tribunal waiting times.

There are currently very long delays with review decisions and many people are waiting about a year for a decision so please bear that in mind too. Your current award will continue until a decision is made.

Please also make sure you treat the form as a new claim and give as much relevant information as possible.

Thanks Poppy, yes I'm aware of the wait times it took over a year for my initial appeal & tribunal & that was 3.5 years ago, but thank you for the rest of the information 😊

No problem. To be clear when I mentioned a year, I was referring to how long it can take for DWP to make a decision on your review. This doesn't include the time for any MR or appeal.

I had my PIP review decision just under a month ago and it took just under a year from receiving the form to having a decision.

Thanks yes I realise that too although I know a few family & friends that have had varying timeframes for their review decisions recently ranging from 2 months to 4 so I think that has a very wide range on it compared to appeals & tribunals which from what I can gather definitely take a lot longer in general

I've also been waiting 10 months for my review so far

10 months for a review certainly isn't the longest I've heard recently! Hopefully you get a response soon @Losingallhope. Do let us know how you get on and if you have any further questions. I know you've been through the appeals process before, but if you have to go through it again we are here for you 🙂
