Hi everyone
First i want to thank wildlife for all the support i have been given through scope.
After an infection in my ears last year, I am profoundly deaf, with tinnitus. I also have neurological problems due to damage to my nerves. I have a sussaks disease, pyoderma gangrenosum (skin disease), depression, panic attacks, anxiety and stress.
I have been fighting P.I.P since i contacted them on the 20th July 2016. At first I was given 2 email address, that later they said did not work. Then my application was denied twice ( not enough points). When I asked for a health assesment they declined. And on the 17th May I won my appeal through the courts. When my husband contacted P.I.P to find out what would happen next? They told him, they are going to stick to there right to 28 days to appeal. and I would receive a letter to say if they were going to appeal or Not? He also spoke to a supervisor who said the same thing. He said when he was speaking to them, it was like they were reading from a manual (No sympathy). The emotional and finacial stress was getting to me. I decided to write a complaints letter, after advice from wildlife. Yesterday I received a letter from P.I.P asking 2 questions. 1) have I been admitted to hospital, since August 2016. 2) how would I prefer to be paid. I sent the letter back recorded delivery, and the post office took of the free postage. This morning my husband received a phone call from the complaints department. They couldn't appologise enough, for the way me and my husband have been treated. They have contacted my case worker, to find out what is happening? And to have the funds released at once. The case worker told them they are waiting for the letter i recieved yesturday, so that they can. The complaints department are now investigaing my case. I hope that people who read this, will keep fighting, And don't loose hope.

    Hi @bevt2017,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you had with PIP, but I'm glad that members of the community were able to help and that the appeal was successful. Congratulations!

Do you have any other tips and advice for people appealing against a PIP decision?

    Hi @LiamO_Dell
    My advice would be.
Make sure, before you even send in your application, seek help and advice. Not everything in life is a 'yes or no' answer. Speak to an organisation who knows about your disabilitys. Mine was the deaf society, she also came to court with me. Constantly keep in contact with P.I.P, to find out about your case. Keep a diary of who you spoke to, dates, times, and what they said. If your sending anything to them by post, have it recorded delivery, and keep all the receipts. Even if it is free post, the post office should deduct the free post off for you? Mine did.
Make sure if you appeal against a P.I.P decision. you ask for a health assesment to be done. Send in as much evidence has you can. GP letters, letters from consultants, specialist. I made an appointments diary, and sent that instead of hospital appointments they wouldn't except. what hospital I went to, what procedure I had done, dates, times, who i was seen by ECT.
    I hope that helps X

@bevt2017 So pleased for you. There is so much more that people can do than just to comply with the normal procedure which so often means backing down, giving in and then feeling so bad and helpless against what so many see as a superior organization with the power to make decisions that ruin lives. I'm also so pleased that your post above can now go on and help others thereby spreading the word that if you are determined enough and know what to do and how to do it you can get PIP if you genuinely meet the criteria. We must keep fighting and not let ourselves be treated like so many of us have been. Good luck for the future and don't worry if the money helps you have a better quality of life. Provided your actual medical condition does not improve dramatically it's the least any of us deserve. We can then enjoy the things that able bodied people take for granted.

Hi @wildlife, I must admit I was ready to give up, the emotional stress has been a nightmere. to the point I even wrote my goodbyes To my family. But because people like you, who want to help. and encourage people like me to fight, I'm still here today. The money will just go out to people we owe money too. has it's been financially difficult as well. I hope everyone continues to fight these people, and don't give up. Thank you again for all your advice, it's ment so much. X

    Hi @Justice
Your right it's been very stressfull and emotional. And now I can concentrate on dealing with my illness, and try to make a better life for me and my family. I can't thank wildlife and scope enough for everything. I hope when they do investigate, they change the way people are being treated?
