Sometimes it's really frustrating when people do this. How do they know you'll be worse off when you said they didn't do a full benefits check? It's not possible to give you any advice if they didn't even bother doing that.

In your case there wouldn't be any entitlement to Transitional Protection, even if you had waited for the letter.

Once the UC is up and running and everything has been confirmed it will become much less stressful.

I already did the calculation for you, which included all the benefits you were receiving as well as what you will be entitled to with UC. I did all of that based on the information you gave. Based on that, you can't possibly be worse off.

I'm sorry they were stroppy with you and if it was me I'd make a complaint to age concern.

Yes, you should receive the next payment. ESA shouldn't stop anyway because it was part contributions based. After the next payment the amount will reduce to £276.40/fortnight.

As previously advised, Housing Benefit will stop as UC has been claimed, you will receive Housing Element under UC instead.

You should have put your rent details in as part of the application process.

Council Tax Reduction is administered by local authorities, all of which set their own rules.

You will need to let them know you've claimed UC. They may ask to see your first statement when available.

I have seen a few cases where UC is treated differently in terms of entitlement, to legacy benefits. But most CTR awards remain the same.

Hi @lees. Have you got a UC online account? If they've requested your documents, they should show in your 'to-do list' and you can upload the document there.

I completely agree that nothing is ever straight forward! I hope you can get this sorted though.

Recieved this today does this mean were going to lose out, dont get it

    You won't lose out.

What's happened to your ESA, means before you were getting both Contributions Based & Income Related.

When someone is on both CB & IR ESA, upon migration to UC the IR ESA ends and is replaced by UC, the CB ESA converts automatically into New Style ESA.

You will still be in the Support Group for NS ESA & automatically receive the UC equivalent (LCWRA).

NS ESA will be paid separately from UC, fortnightly at a rate of £276.40.

This will be deducted in full (598.68) from each UC payment.

As UC is a monthly benefit and ESA weekly, the numbers may look wrong, but are correct.

You might get a generic letter NS ESA letter which assumes your claim is brand new, and mentions a work coach etc, but don't panic that won't apply to your claim.

You will need a commitments interview for NS ESA this is just a formality, your commitments will be to keep them updated with any changes.

Yes UC will be paid on the 9th every month, unless that falls on a weekend or bank holiday, in which case it'll be the Friday before.

ESA, PIP & carers all paid separately to UC yes.
