You're welcome. You didn't answer my question, which is really important. Do you rent your home from either social/council housing or is it privately rented? I'm assuming because your rent is low that it's social housing.

Thank you. Apologies, one last question, do you receive your earnings monthly, 4 weekly, 2 weekly or weekly?

Thank you! Your UC entitlement will be as follows…

Standard allowance (couples 25 and over) £617.60

    LCWRA element .. £416.19

    Carers element .. £198.31

    Housing element.. £450.08

    Total UC before deductions.. £1,682.18.

    Deductions..

Your husbands ESA because part of it is contributions based.. (he will still receive £276.40 fortnight from ESA) £598.86/month

Carers allowance £354.90 (you will still receive carers allowance as a separate payment)

    Your earnings.. 10 hours per week at National Minimum Wage (NMW) = £114.40 x 4 = 4 weekly = £457.60 - £404 work allowance = £56.60 x 0.55 (earnings deduction) = £29.48.

    Total deductions.. £983.24/month.

    Total UC payable = £698.94/month

Don't forget you will still receive the ESA payment of £276.40 fortnight and carers allowance of £81.90/week on top of the UC payment, plus your earnings of £457.60 every 4 weeks.

Total monthly income for all benefits = £1,682.18/month. Plus your earnings.

I can't advise about council tax reduction because all Local Authorities have their own rules.

Please also note that my advice is based on the information you have given. As you also receive your earnings every 4 weeks, this means that there will be 1 month a year where you will receive 2 lots of earnings in a month, which means your UC will be less for that month.

I hope this helps and if you have any further questions please do ask.

You're very welcome. If your employer reports earnings to HMRC 4 weekly then yes, that's what it will be. UC check earnings with HMRC.

If you give up working then your UC will increase by £29.48/month due to no earnings. For housing element, you will be entitled to full rent because you have no spare bedrooms and no non dependant deductions.

As you rent from social housing, you will not need to provide any proof of rent because UC will contact your landlord directly. You can also ask for this to be paid directly to your landlord.

One other thing, if you do decide to claim UC then any Income Related ESA and housing benefit will continue for 2 weeks and then stop.
