Change of circumstances after pension age

If someone is in receipt of pip mobility but not daily living ,once they are over pension age can they request a review for the daily living component even if they didnt receive it before pension age.

Also if they can what's the best way to ask for a review. And is it risky

They currently have an ongoing award for mobility but no award for daily living and scored 7 points last award, however conditions and ability to meet the descriptors are much worse now

They are currently a couple of months under pension age and are unsure whether this needs to be done before reaching pension age or can still still be asked for after pension age.

Thanks

Hi @buddy85, sorry nobody has been able to help you with this yet. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this myself either, but I hope some of our members might see it and offer their thoughts soon.

You could try getting in touch with AgeUK's advice line. They've probably had questions like this before and might be able to clear things up for you:

Hope you can find some answers!

You must claim before state pension age. Your PIP cannot be reviewed after or make a fresh claim.

This is not correct in this case because they already have a PIP award in place. As it's the daily living part then changes can be reported and yes they can be awarded this part after state pension age.

PIP awards are reviewed all the time after state pension age.
