Your rent will be paid in with your UC known as housing element. Housing benefit has now ended for you. I would think you can wait to pay your rent until you have your first UC payment which will be for 1 months rent.

Your council tax reduction will be recalculated based on your UC entitlement once you have your first statement. You need to continue to pay your council tax in the meantime.

This is for New Style ESA, not UC.

I advised you yesterday on this thread that a commitments appointment would be needed for NS ESA, totally normal. Poppy also advised this a few weeks ago.

You can ask for a telephone appointment as a reasonable adjustment.

You can apply to become his appointee so that you manage his benefit claims

I applied for the carers on 17th sept and was told to ask for it to be backdated 3 mnth so from 17th june, my question is they take whatever your carers is off your u/c but if i get from june ( 1st payment next wk) will u/c take the lot , i havent been on that since june my 1st payment for u/c will be 12th dec i think so will they just take from date im paid u/c, if they take yr full amount off then no point having it really

As you weren't claiming UC until 6th November, you won't owe anything to UC from before that date. Going forward it is deducted in full from any UC entitlement each month. If the deduction isn't made for your first month when you receive your statement you will owe them 1 months money, which they usually ask you to repay back from future UC payments.

When you claimed UC did you report being a carer for your partner? If so then the carers element will also be included in your statement. If you didn't then you will need to make sure you report the changes for this and the element will be included.

Yeah i did , this u/c is so stressful wish theyd left it the way it was, i should find out next few days what it will be so hopefully itl be what you worked out for me, is the carers worth it poppy if they just take off you do they make that up in u/c if you dont claim it, just had letter from hospital with diagnosis for hubby young onset cognitive decline ( guessing dementia) such a worrying time

It's only stressful due to fear of the unknown. If the information you gave me was correct then I can't see that you would be worse off claiming UC and for this reason it was definitely worth claiming it.

There's no financial gain to claiming Carers allowance so it makes no difference either way. Although it's deducted in full from UC, you will still receive the carers allowance as a separate payment, either weekly or 4 weekly, which ever you chose when you claimed it.

The only issue with carers allowance is you need to make sure your earnings are not over the maximum amount allowed which is £151/week.

Your UC will also include carers element as you reported being his carer.

I'm sorry to hear about your hubbies diagnosis.
