why are you gonna cancel. Are you ok.

I feel the same as @Banarama…perhaps the assessor was 'on your side' and saying you are unable to go to the shops to ensure you get your allowances; of course I really don't know. In any case, and as B says, you haven't done anything wrong, but are clearly anxious about it, which isn't good for your health. Take good care, E xxx

Cleopatra said they review All of your benefits once you report a change of circumstances like pip to u.c.so I just cannot go through more stress.Even though I've already put claim in September I'm going to cancel

PS, you could always take a screenshot of this conversation as 'proof' of what happened, but hopefully nothing will come from all this, E xx

I wouldn't cancel I meant if u have a change of circumstances u have to tell uc .

I am cancelling x

As it will effect your uc .but u don't have to tell uc if u get higher pip as it won't affect it .

@Jane315STARX applying for PIP wont count as a change of circumstances for UC, the two benefits are totally separate so please don't worry!
Also a change of circumstances won't always trigger a new assessment, I think it's very important that information is clarified, as we don't want to panic people.

please do not cancel. Theirs is absolutely no need.Theres is no need to write this in your journal whatsoever.
it is not a change of circumstances. You have no need to cancel

there is no need to cancel at all. I’m sure they would find that strange
0 -
that is simply not true. PIP is completely separate and tax free payment to help with costs towards your disability. It can be spent exactly how you feel you want even if that means a holiday that would help your condition. There is no need for you to report anything to UC. If you need anymore help please feel free to inbox me.

@cleoptra12 Don't forget that you also have evidence in this forum regarding your circumstances. I clearly remember you saying that your son helps you shop.

when my son is not around to help me I have to shop on my own. Even though I need the help I don’t always have it. Dosent mean that it changes your condition. In fact it’s worse when that help is not available and also increase anxiety and fear/stress. Makes you more vulnerable the fear of having to do that shop on your own.

Jane, can I urge you not to cancel you're PIP application. I know the benefits process is a nightmare but if you are eligible then you deserve it. PIP is also a beneficial payment as it does not affect any other benefit or income that you have. I am going through the PIP process at the moment, in the past I helped people apply and went to their assessments with them, now I am lucky that I have a local charity that is working with me to get my PIP.
That might sound strange but I know we all have a tendancy to minimise what we are going through. We are conditioned from birth to do that. If someone else helps you then they will ask you about how you are on a good week, a normal week and a bad week as well as how you would be without your medication. All of which are meant to be considered as part of the application I believe. Too often most often we just try to minimise our issues to appear "normal".
I don't know where you are but the CAB are great. They can often be swamped as they have been through funding cuts and lost quite a lot of advisors because of Covid but if you do go through them they will be really supportive. I don't know if there are any organisations near you that could help. I'm lucky as I am in north-east Suffolk and we have a charity here (Disability Advice North East Suffolk or DANES) that provides that provide support with applying for benefits amongst a range of other issues. Hopefully Scope might be able to direct you to a local organisation if there is one. I have found that having someone helping does take a lot of the pressure off and I've seen it both as the client and the supporter.
My experience is that so far is that the process has so far only stressed me badly was when we were completing my form and the assessment (which was done by phone). The rest of the time I have not really dwelt on it. Which is strange as I am generally one of those people who constantly worry and can't sleep because of it, but I have admitted to myself that it there is nothing I can do so worrying won't do me any good. All I can do is await their decision and I will then go through it with DANES. PIP is not nearly as stressful as UC in my experience.
So please don't give up, see if there is any help locally.

Hi, I think that is the best thing to do. If they do come back to you then admit the interview put you under a lot of stress.
I was advised to talk about good and bad days. I hadn't left my house in nearly seven months when I had my interview but when it came to the questions on dressing and washing, I admited that on a good day I might get dressed but on a bad day I'd just put on a dressing gown and that the bad days were significantly more.
You could use a similar reasoning behind your differing answers if needed, but hopefully you won't.

@colejames I've already had my my assessment but after the user said that it might trigger a trigger a reassessment of benefits it made me feel physically sick.I just can't cope with u.c.it was actually fine doing the whole pip thing but I'm not willing to go through any more stress with u.c it's just not worth the stress

I didn't say they review all benefits I just said that if she had a change of circumstances and by that I meant if she gets a job or something that she had to tell uc .Didn't know she'd a change of circumstances for pip so I do apologise.

It's ok it is my fault I'm just very anxious about these things.x

Jane! First of all you have done the hardest part - the application form and health assessment. Don't give up now!! This forum can advise an appeal if it's necessary but that's the least stressful bit of the process.
Secondly, getting a PIP award now means no further reassessments for your benefits after Spring 2025 unless you report a material change of circumstances (CoC). There will be a single 'health element' payable under UC and linked to PIP.
