I had applied for pip back in may. I got a 0 award I didn't appeal it at the time. I have been told by my doctors to reapply as my circumstances have got worse. Is there any any advice anyone can give me?

Heya @troublethomas Sorry to hear you were awarded 0 points, unfortunately this is very common. You can still ask for a mandatory reconsideration up to 13 months after the initial result.

Here's a link which will explain all about the process, but it's all very easy to do and we're here if you need support through it all. 😁

Thank you. I have just found my report and most of what she wrote was incorrect. I told her that my daughter had to come and cook and my neighbour also. Told her I couldn't stand to cook some other things but what she basically said she reports I can do it all. These people don't live in your body it's weird to say that I can if I have told you I can't. It's been 4mths since that report and tbh I wasn't and still not in a mental state to appeal it. Should I just read apply especially as my condition has got alot worse. Also could I give my lwcra report as evidence?

    Hi,

It's generally better to do the Mandatory Reconsideration than to reapply. If you reapply you could just get refused again and would have to go on to do MR anyway, having wasted another few months on the new application. However, if your condition is considerably more restrictive now than it was before, then it may be just as well to start a new claim in this case.

The criteria for LCWRA isn't the same as that for PIP so is unlikely to help much, but there's no harm in supplying it, then they can decide whether it's useful or not.

Also worth noting the assessors aren't there to believe every word you say. They use all the evidence available to decide whether you can or can't complete a task. What you say is only a part of that.

Hey @troublethomas, you can do a Mandatory Reconsideration appeal within 13 months of your decision.

You can also start a new application at the same time if your condition has considerably worsened since last time. The MR, and if needs be tribunal, will then consider your award for the dates between the two applications.

Thank you both for your replies. It has got alot worse. My medication has increased my mobility has decreased alot. So ability to look after my kids has changed too thankfully they are 9 and 11 and very independent. I will re apply I think. Thank you all.

It's so difficult when people don't understand the pain your going thru mentally and physically

Just a quick question on the pip form do you give alot of detail or keep it blunt. I'm stressing about doing this form again and waiting for the assessment. My mental health is getting alot worse because of it and part of me doesn't even want to apply again to be refused again.

The more detail you can put down on paper, the less you need to say at an assessment or tribunal.

Some people find it easier to speak, others find it easier to write, so it's really whatever you're most comfortable with.

Do keep to the point though, it's just wasting time to write about things that aren't covered by the PIP descriptors.

I re applied for Pip posted it on Monday and today got a message from Ingeus that they are making my case and will be in touch if I need an assessment. That was alot quicker than my last one. It took 3mths for any further correspondence. Obviously I don't expect them to get back to me soon . Ingeus did it last time and the report was so wrong. Fingers crossed they actually document what I say if I need to have an assessment. This was a paper application and evidence from my daughter who helps me.
