The same rules apply to income Related legacy benefits as they do for UC. If any part of the ESA was income Related then the carers element is deducted in full. Carers premium is then added to the ESA.

Carers allowance need to contact ESA to get the figures from them before paying what is owed to you.

The ESA should only be £138.20/week. If you received more than that they may deduct that amount from your first UC payment.

Yes I know it’s paid fortnightly. Going forward your payment should be £138.20/week (£276.40/fortnightly)

The amount deducted from UC will be £598.86/month.

Sometimes ESA doesn't stop quickly enough. Just be aware you will have to pay some back if that is an overpayment. (This did happen in my case).

£276.40 of what you received is your partners usual ESA payment, which he will receive every 2 weeks. Those ESA payments will always be deducted in full from your UC each month, as I advised above.

As he received more than he was entitled to then I would expect your first UC payment to have a slightly higher deduction for the ESA.

Your overall benefits entitlement with ESA and UC will remain the same as it would be if he wasn't claiming New style ESA.

Yes I know but New style ESA Support Group is £276.40/fortnight. You've claimed UC so this will top up your income.

The reason for this is because part of the ESA was Income Related. Carers allowance is deducted in full from Income Related ESA. (the same as it is from UC) For the ESA they will add carers premium which is £45.60/week.

I would expect ESA to owe you some money for this. However, normally I would expect them to offset the money owed to ESA against the carers premium and pay you the difference between the 2. At least that's what they used to do. It's possible they do it different now and ESA will just owe you the difference.

Going forward it will be deducted from your UC but they will include carers element in your statement, providing you reported being a carer because CE isn't automatically added.

Not sure what you tried to post here but it hasn't worked.

It will only be deducted from ESA up until the 2 week run on after you submitted your claim for UC. Going forward it will just be deducted in full from your UC.
