LCWRA and debt relief orders:

Hi, can anyone help please?

I have recently been awarded LCWRA as my health problems have gotten worse.
2 months ago I had to get a Debt Relief Order as I was financially on my backside.

I’m just wondering if my payments of LCWRA will affect the DRO and would it be revoked.

I’ve trawled the internet for advice but it’s a bit sketchy.

If anyone could shed any light on this I’d really appreciate it. Thank you for reading.

    Hello @kaylalala999.

    This page on DRO and benefits from Shelter might help answer your query. It seems while some disability-related payments such as PIP do not affect a DRO, unfortunately LCWRA/LCW is not classed under this.

    I believe you will need to report your income has changed so they can assess whether it will impact, but would suggest you should get some expert advice from someone like Step Change first.

    I’ve seen this page. I was just wondering if anyone else had been through the same experience and what was the outcome.

    I understand that I have to report back about the “extra income” so I guess I’ll just have to see what they say.
