When the temperature drops below zero for 7 days some people living in England and wales maybe entitled to a cold weather payment. Whether you qualify will depend on circumstances and what benefits you maybe claiming. Details here
Thereβs also a Winter Fuel Payment but you must be of state pension age and above and claim a certain means tested benefit such as Pension Credit or Universal Credit.
Neither of those need to be applied for because you will automatically receive them if you qualify.
