unfair Motability decision

Hi, I’ve been a driver for 3 years, had a car for 4 years. I was recently involved in an accident which was nearly fatal for me, the brakes failed. The insurance have declined to insure me again meaning no car. Has anyone been in this position before? I really need a car for my daily life. Is there anything I can do?

Hello have you tried other insurance companies???1

They won’t build the adapted car without Motability insurance.0

Was it a motability car that you were driving at the time? If so why have they refused to insure you again?

Call Motability to see if they can help.
Do you have a no claims bonus or not?0 -
Hi @nicoljmonaghan
Have you been banned from driving in the past five years?
That is the only reason that would involve being declined insurance, on the Motability Scheme.
Please note, there is no arbitrary, decision making process, to render anyone from not being insured.
Have you had written confirmation from Motability about this decision?
These questions if answered, will enable us to be better placed, to assist you, in this matter.1 -
I have been refused a car on the Motability Scheme because I was banned my ban is over it will be a year in January. I made one silly mistake which I would never do again, I am 61 and I have fybramyalgia, arthritis, and mental health problems which hampers me from getting out so can I appeal it at all as I feel it's unfair that I have to wait till 2028 am constantly stuck in my bedroom which is not helping my mental health condition 🙃

For anyone that's been banned from driving are excluded from driving a Motability vehicle for 5 years from the date of the conviction. See link.
You can ask them to look at the decision again by contacting them.
