hi and welcome to the forum unfortunately I can't advise you on benefits but what I can do is recommend to you to visit the coffee lounge for a general chat or the games den for some fun while you wait for a response

I would want to say yes because the carer would be required to sleep in a different room as the child and parents but I'm not quite sure.

    Hello @kelkel3131

The information from Citizens advice advises - 'You're allowed an extra bedroom if someone in your household is disabled and needs regular overnight care from a carer who doesn't live with you. This won't count as a spare bedroom'

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/help-if-on-a-low-income/housing-benefit/how-an-extra-bedroom-affects-your-housing-benefit/check-if-youre-allowed-an-extra-bedroom-for-housing-benefit/

It might be worth calling them to discuss on a more individual level, as they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Hopefully someone here might have some personal experience to share with you too.

For social/council housing whether they will agree to you having a 3 bedroom property will depend on your landlord. This is completely different to being entitled to an extra bedroom to help with your rent.

If privately renting then of course you can have as many bedrooms as you want but if you claim for help with the rent then this will be capped at 3 bedroom (if the benefits department agree to pay that extra bedroom) Local Housing Allowance, or all of your rent being paid, which ever is lower.
