Review (UCR agents only) on Tuesday 3 December 2024

i am not sure what this about? i provided all the details that UC wanted like statements and license ID, photos, i care fulltime for my disabled wife, she has been awarded a lifetime award, i thought as me being my wifes fulltime carer, that this wouldn't effect me, can anyone please advise, thank you

These are compliance checks to make sure the UC payments are correct, rather than anything work related.

UC are doing millions of these checks, I went through one last year and lots of others on the forum have been through one.

A telephone interview is stage two of the process.

You'll be asked a series of scripted questions about other potential sources of money.

Then questions about some of your banking transactions, which might not appear to make any sense.

I myself (as capital was over £6k on paper) was then asked to submit individual bank statement pages showing my Cost of Living payments.

Then I had a journal message saying my review was complete and my payments were correct.

UC are doing millions of these checks, I went through one last year and loads of others on the forum have been through one. They are to make sure your payments are correct from a financial perspective.

After you submit the information they are looking for, you will have a telephone interview.

You'll be asked a series of scripted questions about other potential sources of money, ISA's, PayPal, property, premium bonds etc.

Then questions about some of your banking transactions, which might not appear to make any sense (mine didn't).

I myself (as capital was over £6k on paper) was then asked to submit individual bank statement pages showing my Cost of Living payments.

I've seen others who were asked for PayPal account statements after the call.

Then I had a journal message saying my review was complete and my payments were correct.

What makes you think it's not about you as well? UC is a means tested benefit so you're claiming as a couple with your wife. This means compliance checks are for both of you.

it’s wrong I suffer with mental health issues anyway and this is just compounding the I’m terrified they’re going to end my before Christmas. I’ve done nothing wrong whatsoever. I feel like I’m being berated like a criminal but thanks for your great what you said, thank you

UC is a means tested benefit so yes they do these checks sometimes. Your claim will only stop if you have capital of more than £16,000. With capital of less than £6,000 this is ignored and will not affect your claim.

There's a deduction of £4.35/month for every £250 or part thereof over £6,000.

i was asked to provide statements from santander, halifax, bank of scotland and paypal, its terrible that they can view your private banking information, its makes you feel like a criminal, i never knew England was a communist country

They can view your private information because you sent them your bank statements. Perfectly normal for a review like this.

are you allowed to say no to them and if so what would happen if you do didn’t produce bank statements, ECT.

You can refuse to send them but your UC likely to either be suspended and may even be closed if you didn't send what they ask. You could also end up owing them money for the payments you've already received.

I’ve already sent mine just feels an invasion of privacy and also compound my mental health issues which I don’t feel fair at all which is one of the main reason and my mobility on these benefits anyway kind of a joke really but we will see what happens tomorrow when I have my phone call. I shall let you know the outcome, thank you WAWAW23

It absolutely is an invasion of privacy, I hated being questioned about my spending but unfortunately it's a condition now of claiming UC.

WAWAW23 i had a phone interview last week, they seem to repeat the same questions like

    "are you working"

    "do you have any savings"

then quite a few yes or no questions, then at the end, a declaration statement letting you know some consequences, like fines, suspension of your claim, they claim its to see if you are getting the correct amount of money for your claim?, i beg to differ… this is just my personal opinion

poppy123456 are you a agent for the DWP?

No I am not! May I ask what makes you think that?

michaelfrancis this how it get you you s second-guess everything and doubt what people are saying. It makes you not trust system and believe that the simple things can be construed in a different way. I’m constantly paranoid for something I have not done. I’m always looking over my shoulder for reasons I don’t know and now this on top of all my mental health issues and mobility issues so Michael I totally understand you questioning if poppy was a agent by the way, is your sorted now and are you all done with this situation, mate? I totally agree it is an invasion of your privacy. It makes you feel belittled like they can come into your life whenever they want and just stop everything just because they need to get there numbers or quotes up. I don’t know but it’s wrong and totally invasive

I have multiple disabilities myself and claim ESA and PIP. The time I spend here is done freely in my own spare time.

I consider my knowledge of benefits far too good to work for DWP because many of them do not even know their own rules. For this reason I have never and will never work for them.
