Your mental health would come under following and planning a journey. The moving around part doesn't apply in this case, unless you have physical conditions.

    Hi poppy123456

Yes, that's correct. Thank you for the correction. I have now just received my copy of the health assessment report today. I've gone through it very briefly with my carer for now but my carer has explained the main bullet points, including the scoring points system.

It appears that my total points would tally up to 14 points for DL if the DWP were to go with the assessor report.

Nothing on mobility but that was expected as I had reported no changes to that on my reassessment forms.

Is the 14 points correct?. I'm currently only getting basic DL which I think I received 8 points for that in my initial assessment.

Would this mean that my DL rate will change if the DWP go with the report?

Sorry for all of the questions but I'm just a bit confused on how this all works.

In general, I thought that the health assessor was fair and to the point except for a couple of things that I feel have been really downplayed a bit in her report of me, especially considering how she hasn't spoken to me so can't understand my conditions from just a 4 minutes phone call, but I think that is to be expected as I've heard they do tend to downplay things a bit.

All in all though, apart from that bit, I think she was honest at least on the majority of the points of DL.

Now just the waiting for the actual results. I'm shaking!.

Thanks again all for your help.

If the DWP go with the report, then you would score 14 points for DL & be awarded the Enhanced rate.

    Hi Kimmy87

Yes my carer has said the same thing but what I'm thinking is, when I was reassessed, I put no changes but still explaining in detail of my severe anxiety and depression with all the supportive evidence etc.

So since I reported no changes, I'm wondering if they can change my DL rates as it was just a reassessment form.

If the DWP do go in favour of the health assessment report then I'd be happy with that since I'm only getting SDL at the moment. So that would actually be good.

I'm hoping that they do go in favour of the report then.

Just a waiting game now. I'm still extremely anxious about seeing the results.

    Thank you again.

Just because it was a re assessment doesn't mean a change in award is impossible.

Ah ok, I see. Thank you Kimmy87. I just wasn't sure if they'd consider putting it up on a reassessment because it wasn't a change of circumstances form.

I'd honestly be happy with even staying on the lower rate but obviously an increase is welcome also.

I suppose it is just all in the DWP's hands now. I don't think I have the energy in me right now to fight a decision though I'm ill with lots of things going on.

So I do hope that they don't just decide to kick me off it instead.

Would it be backdated to the date I was reassessed if it were to go enhanced?.

    Thank you again.

I really appreciate that there is forum's like this with support and information to help.

If this was a review started by DWP rather than you ringing to report changes then usually the extra money is paid from the date of the decision.

However, due to the long delays with review decisions a decision maker has discretion to award from an earlier date rather than the date of the decision. Some people are owed some money and others are not. You will just need to wait for the decision to be made to see what happens.

    Hi poppy123456

Ok, I got you now :) thank you for explaining.

Yes this was a reassessment review initiated by the pip/DWP as I was up for renewal in 2021. Only just gotten to this point now with an assessment etc recently which I had no idea I had had. Apparently, they do paper based assessments as well so I'm assuming mine was one of those.

It's just a waiting game for me, still. Even though I've read the (to the best of my abilities) assessor report, I'm still very anxious on the final outcome. I wouldn't mind if the decision makers go with my healthy assessment report as I don't think I have the mental energy or physical energy to go to tribunerals ect. I barely leave my home as it is without feeling extremely stressed and anxious.

I'm only on low rate daily living and no mobility currently though and if my assessor report is right, then her points have added up to 14 points for daily living but there is nothing for mobility. It just says not applicable in that part.

Thank you again. I'll keep you all updated .

Just popping in to give a quick update.

I have just received another text message this morning regarding my pip.

"About your PIP review. The health professional has sent us their report.
We will make a decision on your PIP, but it may take 6 weeks before you hear from us.
You will continue to get PIP while your award is being reviewed.
You only need to contact us if your circumstances change."

I've had two of these messages now. So not sure why they needed to send the second one. Maybe they are just still keeping me updated with things or it was a mistake second message, I'm not sure.

Still a waiting game until my decision. It's two weeks today from the first message I have received above so a long wait ahead still it seems.

    Hiya Holly

Yes exactly. To be fair, this has been dragged out and ongoing for me though since my renewal was due in 2021. So it's taken from then until now, with the recent extension added due to covid etc, for my assessment which I'm told it was most likely paper based because I didn't have any assessment.

I've received the health assessment report now though and with these two recent messages, it looks like things are finally coming along for me with them dealing with mine.

I honestly am hoping that I don't lose my award (standard daily/no mobility) but from the health assessment report, it totaled up to 14 points on the scoring system for daily living and nothing for mobility.

I'm hoping that the DM goes in favour of the report. I feel that would actually be a more fair and accurate report/outcome as I think it is what I should have been getting from the start, considering my severe mental health and physical health problems.

Thank you for your support as well. I'm grateful for forums like these where we can discuss these topics. They're a tremendous help.

    Hi Holly

It is a great forum, you're right there :).

Ok, so another update. I received a message this morning again from pip. It said that they have made their decision and that a letter will be posted out in two weeks with my decision on it.

I'm a nervous wreck!. It's really getting closer now.

I did ask my carer if she'd ring up the pip helpline to see if my next payment is on there and when, through the automated response part.

I'm so confused now though because it is now saying a different payment to what I usually get.

It is saying £403 but we've tried to tally that up from low rates to the enhance rates and none of it adds up. So that is so confusing.

But, all I can do now is wait for the letter to arrive and see what is what. I'm so dreading it now.

Would other's agree that the decision was rather quick also?. I think it was. So I'm beginning to think this is bad news.

I have to hold out hope though. It's not over yet.

Thank you all for your words of support and help.

Very best of wishes to you all x

    Hello @flustered1

Holly isn’t working today, so I hope you don’t mind me responding instead.

We often hear feedback that the automated payment line provides incorrect information, so I wouldn’t assume it’s bad news based on that. You also can't tell anything from how quickly a decision is made, as it largely depends on the workload of the decision-maker whose desk it ends up on.

If your carer is able to contact PIP, they may be able to provide her with a proper answer to help put your mind at ease.

It’s very rare for them to go against the assessment report, so fingers crossed it’s the news you’re hoping for.

I wouldn't rely too much on the automated payment line. When I had that text to say that my review was complete I rang to ask what my decision was but before I got to speak to someone there was no payment information at all. My award was actually increased to Enhanced for both parts.

Hi, Adrian and Poppy. Thank you for the insight.

Yes, I think my carer did try to get through to speak to someone to find out my results but she just kept getting redirected to the automated message of when the next payment would be and it just doesn't make any sense because that amount doesn't add up to the current rates so hopefully, that is just an error on that part.

My text message did state that "do not ring up for the decision before you receive the letter as we will not be able to tell you over the phone" so, I am not sure if I could ring them or my carer on my behalf (I'm deaf) because we wouldn't be given the results anyway, according to that message.

Ah, why do they do this? Lol. It's killing me not knowing. I need to know so that I can prepare my mind for the letter. Grrr!

It's only been since 2021 lol.

Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for some good news rather than focusing on that automatic message. I'll keep everyone updated as well.

Thank you all for your insights and help/support. I really appreciate it.

All the very best wishes x

That’s a standard text you received and yes it does advise not to ring. The text i received said exactly the same. I completely ignored that and rang them at 9am. You can ring them anytime to ask what the decision was and they should be able to tell you.

    Hiya Poppy

    Thank you.

I'm glad I listened to you lol. After much coaxing, I eventually got my carer to call pip back up for me. Regardless of the message I got, a man told her on the phone that I have been awarded the enhanced rate for daily living but they aren't able to award me anything for mobility at this time. My award goes on until December 8 2027.

    I'm so relieved!. Omg.

The wait is finally over. Well, until 2027 lol. I imagine until 2026 actually since I'll be called up a year earlier, if they're still doing that. Not sure at the moment.

But, thank you very much, and to all others as well, for your insights, kind words and help. The relief I feel now is unbelievable.

My heart was in my throat and everything when I saw my carer speaking to someone, eventually.

I still have to wait for the letter coming through though for my payment. But it's still basically ongoing, only now, I get for enhanced daily living instead of standard.

I'm not due any backdated money. But I'm just so glad that I've finally come to this point.

Thanks again everyone and all the best for Christmas and New Year.

    Hello Scope Community, again :)

I have just received another letter in the post this morning regarding my pip award review.

Well, this one is a little bit confusing I admit, from my first letter I got weeks ago.

I would appreciate any help from members in helping me understand this as it's different now from my first letter.

    I'll type what it says:

"I have looked at your pip and decided I can award you the enhanced rate of £108.55 per week for help with your daily living needs. You can now get this from 23 December 2024 to 8 December 2027.

We will pay you £403.43 into your usual account on 14 January 2025. This is money we owe you from 17 December 2024 to 13 January 2025.

We will then pay your pip into your usual account every four weeks."

Is this classed as backdated money? (£403.43).

I'm just confused because the £403 still falls under the amount of enhanced DL rates of £108.55 per week.

I'm not sure if this will be what I'll get each month following after the first payment on the 14 this month of the £403. Or, is it on top of my usual pip as a backdated pay?

Again, I'm confused and would greatly appreciate any input from someone who understands. Sorry for the long post.

Looks like there's a typo on that date. The money owed is from Dec 23, not Dec 17. It's 26 days of Enhanced Daily Living backpay.
