UC AND LWCRA
hi
Hope you’re well.
To anyone who could help me please.
So my health deteriorated and now I have a disability.
So I was advised to claim UC Due to my ill health and unable to work anymore.
I applied back on 2nd march 2024. Which was all okay. Submitted my details etc
Verified who I am and proof of ID!
so I got given a health form I had to fill out due my health.
I filled that in and sent it off.
I was given the form 1 month after I started claiming UC.
I received my first payment of £363 around 10th April 2024
Since may it went to current £393 which I get every month.
in may I had 3 health’s assessment appointments, all which capita missed and didn’t call me. (Reported all info in journal)
Again in June It they didn’t call despite letters.
I kept ringing the uc and health assessment but they kept telling me to ring each other back and forth anyways skip all that
I spoke to uc line and manager to get through to a very genuine and honest member of uc
In November 2024 after weekly trying
The person I spoke to claimed to be a manager and said they will Fasttrack a review and request an immediate mandatory decision and review. And they also noted in my journal, that depend the outcome if I’m awarded lwcra I would get another payment and reinstated months of back pay but they will tell me how much. It didn’t happen. But then I got a letter on 10th December 2024 that I will have the phone assessment.
the phone assessment was done 27th December 2024.
I had my phone assessment done and completed the lady then mention as this is put as priority it will be done within 14 days and check your journal in 2 weeks as this is a mandatory requirement from uc due to the 6 month plus wait.
So on 2nd January 2025 I got a notification on my journal to say my phone call appointments all cancelled and letter is waiting for me
I logged in and saw the appointment was cancelled and no longer need to provide sick notes. Nothing more
Then 3rd of January 2025,
I got 1 letter to say I’ve been awarded LWCRA and no longer need to provide sick notes
Accept the new terms and await payment of lwcra as they won’t be sent or calculated until I agree my terms and conditions.
everything is agreed and I had a call from my UC coach saying they won’t contact me again for 12 months or maybe 3 years depending on any requests from another department.
She also mentioned the payments are due by your payday. Which is in 6 days.
payment days would be 10th or every month so
January 10th 2025
so could anyone kindly explain
What happens now? How do I get paid? What do I get paid? When do I get it? What the situation of back pay or any owings it would be? If any? I’m confused 3 months no pay and then backdated from month 4 as I’m on month 10
I’ve had since notes from 1st march 2024 consecutive without missing a single day, and my current sick note is still valid until 18th feb 2025
Im a single claimant
Pending pip due to my disability. Been awarded a disabled badge from the council.
I don’t claim any other benefits or get anything else apart from £393 UC payment each month.
I have no carer or helpers
thank you to anyone who’s taken the time out to read this and responds to this message. I’m sorry it’s very long but I had to get all the information in.
thank you. I do wish you all a blessed year
Happy 2025

To be clear, the date you claimed UC and the date you usually receive your money does not add up. If you submitted your UC claim on 2nd March then I would expect your payment date to be 8th of every month.
LCWRA is £416.19/month and it's paid in with your usual monthly UC payment.
There's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is the paid from the 4th month after you provided your first fit note. First payment is then paid at the end of that first month. It's not paid at all during that waiting period.
Assuming none of those fit notes were backdated then your waiting period will be as follows…
March/April, April/May, May/June.. LCWRA starts from 2nd June to 1st July and first payment will be 8th July. Therefore up to now they owe you 6 months LCWRA element and not 10 months as you thought.
There may not be enough of time to include this element on your statement this month so if it isn't then they will owe you 7 months. You will need to check your statement to see if it's included when you receive it.
Money owed will be paid as a separate payment and often takes several weeks to pay it. Once your statements have been recalculated you will receive a letter onto your journal telling you how much they owe and it will then be paid into your bank.

hi,
To clarify I gave my sick note in then 1/2nd march
my pay date every is every 10th of each month. Definitely and has been since April 2024
unless I need to speak to them work out how they got 10th rather than the 8th but living how I am, surviving and the treatment I’ve faced, I probably wouldn’t bother. I’m grateful I have something to survive on.So the additional payment will be made combined with the uc payment?
Makes sense,
So its payment date from 4th month so first 3 months no payment.
4th month onwards…
that makes sense 7 payments till now is owed. I’ve checked my uc journal and see no mention of anything. Just a comment to say sign the terms or you won’t be entitled to any payments or claim uc so I’ve messaged and agree the terms which was no terms a blank pages. Which I’ve taken as screenshot as proof. And mentioned in the journal. So it takes several weeks to pay?
so if it goes into next month they will keep adding months on? Example
let says they owe me 7 months and they’ve not paid me this month and come next month will they pay 8 months? Or will it be 7 months plus one combined payment? 416+393?
not to worry. I guess I will have to wait for the letter and that should explain it
thank you very much poppy i appreciate it. You’ve been wonderful and explained well. Means a lot0 -
You're welcome. Up to now they owe you for 6 months. If the element isn't included in this months statement then they will owe you 7 months.
Only the money that's owed to you will be paid as a separate payment. Going forward your UC will include standard allowance and the LCWRA element, so an extra £416.19/month.
