Electric can openers

Hi everyone, I hope you are as well as can be. I am really struggling to open tins now - arthritis and duypretens contracture. I find the tins with ring pulls are virtually impossible to open, so I end up using a knife under the rim! Not the safest way to get in the tin. Does anyone use an electric opener?

If so, are they any good? Do they open the tins with ring pulls? Are there any recommendations for particular versions?

Thanks in advance. Take care xxx

Hello @HappyDays62. I have this one. It's the best I've had in more than forty years of manual disability. It does open cans with ring pulls but they can get stuck as it goes round. I sometimes have to open the bottom of the can.

Hello HappyDays62, I can vouch for the Kenwood can maker which I chose a couple of Christmases ago after reading the reviews and I'm glad I did. £25 when I looked.

It's compact, stands upright and the cable tucks inside so it's very easy to store. It also has a knife sharpener at the back which I've not tried. Kenwood now manufactures in China but my two food processors are still going strong and I'm sure this will last.

I also have a strong plastic gadget called CANPULL which deals with ring pull cans. No idea where I got it from but I'm sure it cost only a pound and it does the job safely.

Thank you very much. looks as though the Kenwood range is best, so I'll be ordering one today. I have a CANPULL but don't have enough strength in my hands to use it anymore.
