Migration and rent

During the migration process from ESA/legacy benefits when the money stops am I responsible for paying the rent in that time ?
or could I ask my housing association to wait till my payment comes or is that unacceptable ?
Also once I've moved over when my rent goes up who or how would I notify someone as I used to notify the local council.

As I advised on your other thread your housing benefit will continue for 2 weeks. Your first UC payment will be 3 weeks later and it will be for 1 months money because it’s paid 1 month in arrears.
Your LL should understand that UC housing element is paid differently to HB. For this reason you should need to pay your rent for those 3 weeks.

When the rent goes up in future, you can notify UC by making a change of circumstances in your online journal.

As you’re renting from social/council housing then they will ask you around the first week of April to confirm your housing costs.

I see so the rent I would have to find a way to pay for rent 2 weeks after claiming.
A separate query what website do they use to verify id and what I’d would be best used to avoid attending a job centre for an id check ?
Is the claiminant commitment something you sign online ?

You don’t need to find the payment for the rent because you will receive that in with your UC payment. Housing benefit is also paid in arrears the same as UC.
For ID there’s online verification. If it can’t be done that way then they can do a biographical appointment. Please read link for more information.
Agreeing to your commitments can be done through your journal.

I get a housing benefit payment on the 20th Jan and if I claim from say some time that week I have 2 weeks run on and then am I responsible to pay the rent or wait till my first payment to pay the housing association?
As I maybe in luck with timing it just after I get a payment.
If I have to pay some other how is that rent back dated ?

As Poppy advised, UC is paid a month in arrears. You will receive a UC payment with one months worth of rent.
When I claimed I personally paid I think 3 weeks out of pocket so my account wasn't in arrears. But do speak to your Landlord, they will be well used to people claiming Housing Element via UC.

I see so no payment required by me. And the payment at week 5 will cover it. If I’ve understood rightly.
I’ve gotten myself a little confused.

starting to gather my paperwork.
Will I need my tenancy agreement ?Something I can’t find!

As you rent fom social housing, UC won't require your tenancy agreement. They will ask for confirmation from your LL that you are a tenant and that the rent amount you've declared is correct.

Thanks Kimmy
will I need my bank account statements to hand ?
I think I can understand how to download them.0 -
They don't routinely ask for bank statements when you apply.
You will need to declare how much money you have so you'd need the correct figures.
If you have over £6k then they probably will ask for statements.

when they do one of those reviews when they ask for bank account statements is that to include your credit card ?
Or just actual bank accounts

The initial request is usually 4 months worth of bank statements. Following the interview, you may be asked to supply PayPal statements if you have an account. They do not ask for credit card statements, nor are they allowed to.

fair enough.
That’s odd about the credit card statement given they go though everything like a fine tooth comb.
any reason they don’t put of interest ?0 -
I don't know the answer, my assumption is either when spending on a credit card technically you are using the companies money not your own, or as debt repayments are permitted on UC they have no interest /aren't allowed to see what led to that debt.

I just started the migration process online form today but want to save it and come back
question is how do I do that ?0 -
There should be a save button at the bottom of the page. You may have to complete the rest of the section before it gives you the option to save it if there's no button visible.
