A question about housing benefit/element (As living with someone)
Hello all.
I posted somewhere else about my current living situation, I am technically homeless, but my distant family have put me up in their spare room.
However, they are on pension credit and they are worried that it will affect their housing benefit and council tax reduction. However, I am also on Universal Credit and receive PIP and I do not think it would affect them greatly.
Would anyone be able to advise me?

There will be no non dependant deductions if either of them are claiming a disability benefit such as PIP daily living, DLA mid/high rate care or AA.
If they are not then there wouldn't be any non dependant deductions if you're under 25 and have no earnings while claiming UC.
If non of those apply then there will be a non dependant deduction of £19.30/week for housing benefit. See link.
Even if there's no deductions they still need to report the changes to their Local Authority.
I can't advise about council tax because all local Authorities have their own rules.

I don't know if I am reading this right, but they aren't affected?
I am 34, receiving UC and PIP.
They are pensioners and one of them receive PIP and they receive housing benefit.

If either of them get Daily Living PIP, then it won't effect them.
