RACHEL Reeves today reveals she is fast-tracking a crackdown on sickness benefits as she declares: “We cannot keep footing the bill” for jobless Britain.

Ministers will now publish their long-awaited plan to slash billions from the disability benefits bill before the Spring Statement on March 26.

They're the tabloids. They'd write anything for clicks. Try not to take notice.

They have been planning this for the last 10 years so it's not news!

Hello, I've just moved this over to our Current Affairs category where we do try to keep any discussions related to… well… current affairs! Things in the news and what not.

While we do prefer sources that are more reliable than the Sun, Reeves did say those words.

I too am very worried over any changes which could come down the line and I agree with those who think we should ignore clickbait articles from local news websites, often with 'Live' in their name as their articles contain nothing concrete and is just pure speculation and fearmongering.

The Sun isn't the best newspaper in my view, (to put it mildly), but regardless of the politics of newspapers when the Chancellor actually writes a piece for a newspaper with her own words regarding to benefits, I do think it's valid.

In my eyes it just shows that despite saying they, (Labour), wouldn't be divisive and be degrading to those who cannot work, her article just shows the exact opposite! 😔

We should ask ourselves why the likes of Iain Duncan Smith and Rachel Reeves use their sources at tabloid 'newspapers' to spread their messages..

Because it’s popular with readers of certain newspapers. Talking about benefit cuts is always going to be popular with the Mail, Telegraph and the Sun.

'footing the bill'.. So what do they expect will happen when people are forced to do things they can't. The NHS best get a lot of beds ready for the suicidal.

What about not 'footing the bill' to countries like India and Ukraine. People who can work but choose not to like those doing all sorts of dodgy stuff on estates near me. How do they expect long term sick or disabled to just get up and do something they may never have done. So angers me.
