Stressed out

I just received a call from a 'social prescriber' from my GP practice asking me how I am since I put my M.r for pip in January 2nd and have I heard any news.Not only did she sound surprised that I told her ( already) again that the text said 12 weeks to hear anything.But I told her that the talking therapist had referred me to a psychiatrist and she said "have you told the GP?".She basically said it isn't up to him to refer as the GP initially referred me to talking therapies so the onus is on me to let the GP know so they can refer me.When I called up talking therapies the admin said that no referral was on their system for me which is making me sick to the bottom of my stomach.They said they will get the therapist to give me a call but this could be anytime.My stress and anxiety levels are off the chart.Im trying not to focus too on what is going to happen to the benefits on Wednesday but it's a total nightmare

    He said he can't give me any sessions as The service is not appropriate for me which is why he said he's referred me to a phchiatrist.But as I say the admin said that is not showing on the system

    @Jane315STARX

    If you have not had any Talking Therapy sessions as yet how could you be referred to a psychiatrist? Maybe contact your GP and ask for a phone call appointment to discuss where you are at the moment. Or go back to the Social Prescriber and ask them to find out for you?

    I have spoken to him ( the talking therapist once properly and following that conversation which lasted an hour he decided that I wasn't suitable for talking therapy.He called and explained.I turned down the initial proposals as I didn't trust what he was saying but then changed my mind.I spoke again last week which is when he said that he would go ahead with the original plan and refer me to a psychiatrist a

    The social prescriber basically told me "you can't trust what these talking therapists say they are going to do,it's your health and you need to make sure that referrals are done because things get lost in transit".I felt so stressed

    If I didn't have a son to consider I'd really be in a totally different situation right now

    Apologies for my earlier negative posts but I get so stressed out by people and situations.The talking therapist called me to explain that the social prescriber had given me misinformation basically and that he can refer me to a psychiatrist and is going to but just hasn't done it yet and it's on his list of things to do.He didn't bad mouth her and actually said social prescribers were actually really useful ( I'll think on that).So I feel much calmer about atleast this situation.

    Thank you Blue Bell.I feel like I'm being constantly tested on a daily basis.How Rachel Reeves can think that Anxiety is not something that is relevant ( I know that is not perhaps how she has worded it but the levels I suffer with it from is just ridiculous).

    The situation you described above could be a case study of why groups like this can be helpful Jane, there's no need to apologise.

    Many of us will have had similar issues and it often feels good to share our experiences if they may help others.

    A psychiatrist will be able to offer you a wealth of things which talking therapy cannot, and they will also most likely do talking therapy. Literally the best of both worlds!

    Good luck, anxiety is much more manageable than it used to be

    Thank you so much.Yes many years ago I was extremely fortunate to have the Best Psychiatrist who I ended up seeing for many years for various different issues.

    You've done nothing wrong Jane, sounds like there was a mix-up at the GPs, which isn't your fault. I'm not sure actually the "social prescriber" who phoned you was right saying the onus was on you to initiate a request with the GP. Surely that should be up to the GP to decide? You are the patient, not a medical practitioner.

    If you're on universal credit you can log into your account now and check you're going to get the correct amount of benefits, they write the amount in your account on the home tag under "payments" several days before it's due. If you're worried about going for a benefits interview Weds, stick to your guns, tell them you were waiting for the GPs to respond etc. I wouldn't mention what the "social prescriber" said, just stick to your guns, you've done nothing wrong, you've not purposefully evaded treatment, so you've nothing to feel bad about.

    I am definitely going to see this psychiatrist as and when.And when I do I'm going to tell him/her what a devastating impact this government has had on my mental health by some of the statements put out,the whole U.c process that I personally went through and am still going through
