Hi @ben2026, Sorry to hear you're in this position, that's really tough.
Have you had any contact with Shelter at all? They might be able to share some advice:
Homeless England have a searchable database to find charities and services near you, so that might be worth a go too:
Homeless England | Homeless Link
Did the council offer you any other alternatives like temporary accommodation? Or did they say they couldn't offer you anything at all?
Hope things start getting better for you soon.

Did the council offer you any other alternatives like temporary
No they never offer me anything where I live there are a lot of people that are homeless there's about 30 people on the streets sleeping in the morning and I'm guessing more on other places in my area my council don't seem to really care or just say they not got the homes for people this is information I have got from some of the people that is homeless in the past as when I was a lot better then I am today I used to help them with food and drink and just chat with them as people would just walked by them
I'm looking in to renting but they want both the rent by 2 months and a deposit would the UC help with this or can I get a loan out from UC? I'm waiting to hear back about my pip claim and if I get that it makes it easier to pay of rent
Can I claim for housing benefit if I rent from a private housing like a studio flat or one bedroom? I know there is rent a room but I'm worried who I get a roommate with

Go to your GP and let them know what’s happening , are you under a MH team or and consultants for you Physical Health , if you are let them know also ?
Make a homeless application and get some supporting letters for your MH and Physical Health.
When it comes to social housing single men are always the ones they least want to help , it’s absolutely disgraceful .
My Council have done the same thing to me for years , even lying to my MP .1 -
@letitbe thank you and I'm sorry I'm new to all this as I been living with family for over 15 years he my cousin and I get it it's he place and now got a new gf and wants her to move in without me in the way but I had a lot of health problems recently and had a injuries so now it not that easy for me he told me to apply for pip as he knows people with less problems then me that got it but I don't get housing benefit because he own the place and I don't know where to turn where help can the GP help in this? Like you z and I don't even know what the other one is about there is a small studio flat 10min away from here but I don't have the money to pay upfront for the deposit and he z he can't help me so I'm on my own with it can the UC help or something

if you have nowhere to live and will be homeless the Council have a duty to help you. The GP and any other people you’re under for your issues should know what’s happening. I don’t think UC can help you with deposits etc but the Council certainly can, mine does just to try and get you away from applying for social housing.
If you are homeless the council have a duty to help you , don’t let them fob you off . Contact Shelter asap .0 -
You can claim for help with the rent through your UC known as housing element. If privately renting and you're under the age of 35 you would only be entitled to the shared rate of local Housing allowance, unless you're successfully awarded daily living PIP and then you'll be entitled to the 1 bedroom rate. You can see the rates here but they only apply to privately rented properties.
If renting from social/council housing then all your rent would be paid, unless you have spare bedrooms. Or there's service charges in with the rent because UC doesn't always cover this, it depends what it's for.
