I know it seems a bit 'off topic' but please all look after yourself as best you can. Years ago when very young, I had night terrors and sleep walking for years. I have just woke up at 0420 and was screaming VERY, VERY LOUD from a night terror (parainsomnia i think its called). Jeez. . My poor 4 dogs, all came to me frightened sat bolt upright in bed scared. I've just been able to settle them now. I don't know why, first time in many years but I'll think today of how to improve sleep etc. But all this worry has been the biggest thing on my mind and I'm terrified of sleep walking again so got to prevent that happening. Overthrow the government perhaps ha ha. Anyway, take care everybody it can all affect us in many ways sadly 😥

I've had night terrors as you describe for more that forty years. They've become more frequent since last April. I suppose it happens in sleep because we resist screaming out in daytime.

@Zipz gosh I'm so sorry you've had them for so long and that they've worsened 😪 I know I've got to try today to somehow work out how to chill more but suspect it's cos of an increased amount of stress mental and physical problems cos of illness and wrong medications so a combination of recently traumatic things really. They're truly terrifying (clue is in the name I suppose 😅) but I've somehow got to nip them in the bud as the thought of it ever leading to sleepwalking again is truly terrifying as I'm on my own with just my dogs. The mind is weird. Well, mine is anyway!

Thanks very much for that Poppy, I was getting worried they'd made a mistake + I'd have to pay it all back…

The media are going overdrive about welfare cuts in sickness benefits. This is a worry

Thanks for the Times ref Apple, hadn't seen it. You've hit the nail on the head, if the Tories were in + mooting this, Labour would be loudly protesting, there'd be an opposition. Now Labour are back, there's very little protest. It was just the same under Blair, when they brought in New Deal (which meant working for dole money, aka American workfair), PFIs, school academies et al.

The Tories slashed the £20 uplift to UC, taken away our cost of living payments, and now Labour are proposing this. Makes you think they'd rather get rid of us altogether. What they will do is make our lives such a struggle, we won't be fit to do anything. Punishing people for being sick / disabled will not encourage them into work.

I've a horrible feeling you're right Apple. They're all fighting for their careers now, Reeves, Kendall, Starmer et al. They won't roll over easily.

I think it will come down to 2 things

    • the level of public backlash (reading newspaper comments and social media it’s at best 50:50 and worst 70:30 in favour of team ‘everyone on welfare is a scrounger’ however I have no clue what side the mostly silent majority is leaning towards
    • We need to learn from migrants after Rwanda was announced and keep the dwp tied up and delayed with several (human rights) lawsuits……..even if Clifford herself launches another challenge it’s not enough alone

Reading around I do think that reeves fate (and also Kendall’s) is tied to our own - reading between the lines of several recent articles, city bosses are pretty upset with her and it sounds like she’s promised that she can get all the money the treasury needs via the welfare department……..if she raise any more taxes that effect the bankers and co and I think starmer will have no choice but to fire her in order to save his government

(Question - the welfare bill is currently about £68bil right? - how much of that is spent on disability elements/awards?………..can’t be more than £20bil a yr? - even if the dwp erased disability payments altogether would £20bil a year be enough to get themselves out of this current hole (a lot being the mess the tories left behind but Labour have made a lot of financial mistakes too) I’m not sure - I really think a second referendum may need to start being considered at this point to recoup funds)

Keeping my head above water is my priority but my pettiness see contributing to reeves and Kendall getting fired as a ‘sweetener’

I saw an article on BBC today they (many labour mps) are getting nervous which is great about Reeves And Kendall's attitude.

Another one Wrote an article for the guardian yesterday slamming his own party.

and on bluesky in particular the majority are on our side and I've even had 3 councillors and an mp follow me on there after I expressed my opinion (which obviously Isn't as polite as on here)

but on another note if those 2 are not up to doing what labour want they will be replaced with someone who will be they could always sell off a bit more of our gold that lead to there demise like last time

starmer is being very stubborn about brexit even though it is sinking our country

Yes the eu need to review their own demands as they need us as much as we need them to get out of respective messes

But only 30% of the pop still support brexit

But starmer is so terrified of losing voters to reform/tories that he will not see common sense nor that those voters are probably already lost

I fear in panic the uk will be sold out to trumps America at huge cost to the uk present and future

Starmers belief that he needs to court the far right in order to retain power will throw more ppl under the bus, not just the disabled (we are just the first and others population could be sacrificed at any point - it is in the publics interest to help ‘stop the buck’ and help the disabled community succeed for their own sakes as well as ours)

taking pip and uc,esa away from people with no assessment and doing it quickly breaks our human rights and would never be allowed by the high courts.the mirror claims that rachel reeves said it would be done in 54 days.they've just lost a case on this very issue ie not giving people a chance to respond to the concelltation.they can't down grade metal health in law because they want to save money so almost overnight they can stop peoples money which seems to be the main goal and not getting people into work as come april there will be thousands of job losses and less new jobs because of the ni tax on employers she brought in,which will do the opposite of growth.these are policies that if they are stupid enough to try and pass will never be allowed by the courts.

Can't people see or recognize if Labour can go after disability benefits they'll go after the State Pension, Pension Credit and the Triple Lock?

It boggles my mind how any Pensioner who supports Reform/Tories and Labour going after disabled people will give them carte blanche to go after their benefits. The State Pension is classified as a benefit by the way.
