Pip random phone call

I made a claim for pip, I claimed in 2022 but was turned down so its my second time applying. Yesterday, i received a call from an 0800 number but didn't answer it. I then received a text from dwp saying they had tried to contact me regarding my pip claim and that they would ring me today between 9am and 12pm. A lady rang at 10am. She asked my address, date of birth , national insurance number and name of doctors surgery. The call lasted all of 1 minute and 10 seconds? Does anyone know why they would ring asking those details when they are all already supplied on my claim form......??
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks

We can only guess the reason why they wanted those details as you already provided them. Seems rather odd to ring for that. I would have at least expected them to ask you some other questions as those are just some of the security questions they ask.

I know it is rather odd?
Thank you0 -
Oh and she also asked if i claim any other benefit. I receive lcwra and again, they will know that? Very Strange0

Hello @Denbat07. Did she ask anything else at all? Hopefully you'll have an update from them soon so you'll have a better idea of why they may have called.
Hope you're not waiting too much longer.0 -

Very StrangeI don't think you have anything to worry about, it's one of the standard "security questions" to confirm your identity. They also asked me if I was receiving another benefit ? and to what account (bank name) it was transferred ?when I called them asking for the HP report.0

Those are the questions i would expect them to ask you. Are you saying they rang you, asked you those questions and that was all they wanted?

Yes those were the only questions she asked.0

This all sounds fairly okay @Denbat_07, it shouldn't be anything to worry over
They do these calls to double check the information and making sure the telephone number is the right one as an example.

Ah right, I feel better about it now

Hi
I had a random call from pip yesterday, she identified herself and then asked my name, date of birth and address, I gave this information then stated her call had caused me distress as it was out of the blue, she apologized and said she didn't want to make me feel like this and that's all she needed and said thank you and goodbye. This is my first Pip claim. Timeliness below
My Pip claim forms were received the end of October 2024
4 weeks later 23rd December 2024 received txt saying... A Health Professional is looking at your PIP claim. They will contact you with an appointment if they need to. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.
I have been waiting for a letter or txt to give me a date for my assessment.
I haven't had this yet just this random call from Pip 14th January 2025, does anyone have any idea why I had a random call from them. Still not had any other txt or letter since this call.

Google the numbsr they called on to see if its legit. It does sound odd tbh

It was a private number so can't check

They do do this for what's known as a paper based assessment.
Where they feel they have enough information to make a decision without a full assessment, but have a few questions to ask.
Either the paper based assessment will now be completed without any input from you (look out for a DWP text saying they've received the assessment report), or you will receive an appointment for a full assessment.

I think she was health assessor, maybe capita

Yes then she would have been attempting a paper based assessment. See my other reply above.

She did state her medical profession but I can't remember now what it was.

Hi I have now received this message......
We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 8 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you.

Now you've had confirmation the assessment has been completed, you can ring PIP and ask for a copy of the report if you want to.
