Benefits help
My wife and I are both pensioners receiving standard pensions, we have no savings or any other income but fortunately we are mortgage free.
My daughter died on Boxing Day and we are now guardians to two wonderful grandchildren aged 11 and 15.
We have applied to receive child allowance and a guardian allowance, as yet heard nothing.
We were refused help with a funeral grant.
I have so far applied for pension credit and a council tax reduction and have been turned down on both.
Can anybody advise me what we might be entitled to and how to get it.

I'm so sorry for your loss!! For Pension Credit this should also include money for each of the children. When you applied did you give them information about the children living with you? You should receive £76.79 for the eldest one and £66.29/week for the youngest.
When you say child allowance do you mean child benefit?

You may also want to get some expert advice from an agency near you and they can do a full benefits check for both of you.

Hi
I kindly need some advice about the benefits which my family could be eligible for. Because of my son's condition with disability, 3 family members have been granted family reunion visas. They have not yet come in but i'm seeking information to prepare them accordingly. My son still lives in a care home as we bid for a 2 bedroom property.I live in a temporary accommodation. I don't know whats gonna happen if 3 family members come in next month. How does the housing benefit help in this case? Or any other benefit advice. Thank you.

You really need expert advice with this because it's far too complex for any online forum. I will so though that if the family has No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) they will not be able to claim any benefits.

Otherwise they have a refugee status like mine. And are free to access public funds.
